Role Summary


This Lab Infrastructure Technician role will support the day-to-day activities of our integrated facilities and lab operations team. The successful candidate should be highly motivated, take initiative, and be able to think creatively to solve problems hands-on. This position will be integral for our fast-paced and flexible laboratory. The candidate will support the existing team by performing key operational duties across a variety of work processes to maintain an efficient and high-functioning lab environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Receive and distribute packages; identify and communicate time/temperature-sensitive items to relevant staff members
  • Maintain and organize lab, stockroom, and mechanical areas; prepare areas for use as needed
  • Collect and stock glassware and assist with operation of glasswasher and autoclave systems
  • Assist in duties relating to lab management and equipment operations as required to maintain a safe and efficient work environment
  • Perform routine checks of all lab spaces to ensure systems are functioning properly
  • Assist team with scheduling and escorting external services vendors
  • Monitor laboratory waste and coordinate removal with safety personnel
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • The ideal candidate will learn and become proficient in certain technical skills such as:

  • Assisting functional lab groups with setup and preparation of specialized equipment and work areas by learning and following standard procedures
  • Preparing standard stock solutions for use by scientists per requested schedule
  • Using standard tools and techniques to support minor facility repairs and maintenance
  • Inspecting safety equipment and documenting completion within a management system

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant work experience and comfort in lab/facility environment
  • Proven ability to work with people to solve problems
  • Excellent communication skills to share information with team, staff, and external vendors
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, plus ability to multi-task as needed
  • Detail-oriented, able to capture and report information correctly and accurately
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques to support changing goals
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to wear and work in standard lab PPE, handle items up to 25 pounds, utilize standard hand tools, and scale ladders

Desired Qualifications

  • Work experience within a laboratory setting with a range of responsibilities
  • Customer oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Experience or skill in at least one specialized area related to lab operations
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comply with documents such as internal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and company policies

Education

  • High school diploma or General Equivalent Degree (G.E.D.) is required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred in a science-related field
