Lab Technician I

Fluidra’s looking for a Lab Technician to join our team at our West Coast office in Carlsbad, CA.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE 

While working and participating in a team environment, the Lab Technician is primarily responsible for assisting design and test engineers with research and development testing related to gas fired pool heaters, automatic pool cleaners, water chlorination systems, pressure and filtration pumps, valves, and controls. In addition to testing, they will also analyze data generated from tests, report results of tests, and advise of the product development implications arising from the results. Organization culture demands employees to be result driven. This position reports to the Engineering Lab and Field-Testing Manager. A breakdown of primary responsibilities for this role is as follows (percentages are approximate): 

• Set up and conduct various electronics and mechanical tests as specified by the Project Engineers and Test Engineers. 50%
• Help build and/or modify test rigs and product prototypes. 25%
• Maintain and operate various types of test equipment 10%
• Analyze data generated from experiments; Report results of experiments; Advise of the product development implications arising from the results. 10%
• Maintain the engineering labs including parts inventory, data acquisition equipment, and various lab grade instruments and their calibration. 5%.

WHAT WE SEEK

• 1+ years in a hands-on technical role. Examples include Field or Lab Technician, Maintenance Technician, Automotive Technician, Aerospace technician; HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical trade professionals.
• Pool service and repair experience a plus
• Comfortable with basic machine shop tools
• Must be comfortable performing hands-on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tasks
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Innovative, customer service and team oriented.
• Strong shop-math skills, required to perform the necessary calculations to perform engineering tests and conduct mechanical inspection of various components (sheet metal, plastic, electrical etc.) preferred
• Experience with Labview or Matlab preferred

EDUCATION

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or technical school preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.
