Lead Concept Artist

Tripwire Interactive is looking for an experienced Lead Concept Artist to join our battle tested team, helping to design visually compelling worlds that our players will love to explore, fight, and play within.  This person should have a discerning artistic eye, strong leadership qualities, and excellent soft skills that will empower and inspire the team to design believable and unique characters, weapons, and environments.  You will lead a passionate and experienced team who are looking to grow and push the limits of what is possible in our future titles through superior design and creativity.  We want someone who is positive and passionate about their craft and looks for new and creative solutions to design fresh content that is unique and will set us apart in the industry.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Art Director to define the visual quality and themes of our games through a collaborative and iterative concept process.
• Create unique and compelling handmade designs for Characters, Creatures, Weapons, and Environments that fit within the artistic and creative vision for the game.
• Attend various team meetings to gather information and direction on the Creative, Design, and Artistic intent for the various initiatives on the project.
• Manage and Mentor the Concept team and provide feedback on their designs to meet the artistic and creative direction for the Project.
• Work Closely with the Team Leads to provide additional visual support to ensure content is matching the Conceptual Vision and offer mentorship where necessary.
• Work with Art Director and Team Leads to provide feedback to external Concept Artists
• Work with the Producers and Art Director on the project timelines and tasking for the Concept Team.
• Create Key Art illustrations for Project Marketing needs.
• Evaluate and provide Bi-annual 1 on 1’s for the Concept Team.
• Be receptive to the needs of the team and help them with any issues that may arise.
• Assist in the hiring and training of new team members.
• Be able to work autonomously, if needed.
• Be receptive to feedback and implement it.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A portfolio that showcases unique, original designs and strong creative problem-solving not reliant on AI.
• Strong understanding of color theory and how color affects mood & focal points
• Strong Knowledge of Anatomy, perspective, composition, and textures.
• Strong Photoshop skills
• Able to communicate vision through images.
• Excellent Leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passionate about the Craft.

Preference to applicants with:

• Knowledge of UE5
• Knowledge 3D Modeling Packages (Blender/Max/etc.)
• Knowledge of Vector art creation (Flash, Illustrator)
• Strong Creature Portfolio

Core Hours 10am to 4pm EST

Salary: $110,000-$120,000 Depending on Experience
