Lead Fullstack Engineer

About the role.

We are looking for an ambitious Lead Fullstack Engineer. You’ll have the chance to work on foundational elements of our products and work closely with the founding team. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating a seamless customer experience and is able to drive and execute end-to-end web-based customer journeys. You will plan, architect, build, and own our main external-facing web app using React.js, JavaScript, CSS, Relay, GraphQL and server side Node.js. You will partner with design to bring our customer touch-points to life and will be responsible for the technical execution of web projects through hands-on development and prototyping. In other words, you will bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation to create a user-friendly product. 

What you’ll do.

• Develop and Architect new user-facing features.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Regularly meet with designers and product managers to plan, prioritize and estimate tasks, and influence technical solutions.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Review and provide constructive feedback for code/design.
• Architect backend and frontend services in collaboration with BE team.
• Participate in daily scrum ceremonies, aligned to East Coast business hours.

What you’ll work on. 

• Exciting initiatives such as our recent company rebrand.
• Customer-facing functionality like the acceptance of insurance (e.g., FEHB), allowance to meet with hearing healthcare professionals in person, and many other product development experiments.
• Lots of debugging, profiling, efficiency and performance optimization - hooray! 
• And last but never the least: continuous refactoring and architecture reviews.  

What you’ll bring.

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience working as a Frontend or Fullstack Engineer.
• Experience with React.js and modern JavaScript libraries and tooling.
• Deep understanding of the “behind-the-scenes” of HTML rendering, CSS, and Javascript.
• Deep understanding of core modern web concepts such as Single Page Apps and server side vs. client side rendering.
• Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities. 
• Vast experience in developing backend and frontend systems with Node.js, Express.Js, and GraphQL. 
• Experience with designing, building, and debugging APIs and distributed backend systems.
