The Learning & Development Specialist plays an integral role in promoting a culture of learning at all levels of the organization. The Specialist position will develop engaging learning experiences that will assist in elevating individual and organizational performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs assessments with business partners and key stakeholders to understand learning needs and establish the appropriate audience for training. Translates needs into specific learning objectives. Evaluates and recommends modes of delivery to optimize training effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Leads or participates in learning and development projects. Collaborates with subject matter experts from all levels of the organization to determine project plans and timelines and design and develop storyboards and course content. Effectively manages business partner and stakeholder expectations and proactively communicates impacts to budgets, timelines and deliverables.
  • Applies adult learning and instructional design methodology in the development of blended learning solutions. Creates engaging, interactive learning activities and compelling course content such as eLearning, videos, job aids, instructional guides, software simulations and assessments.
  • Works with external vendors in the identification or development of courses that meet established learning objectives. Acts as a liaison between internal subject matter experts, stakeholders and external vendors to ensure goals are met and remove barriers, as needed.
  • Publishes and manages learning activities in the Learning Management System. Contributes toward the efforts of optimizing the user interface, creating and managing courses and curriculum, and running training reports. Coaches learners and managers on LMS functionality and dashboard/reporting functionality as needed.
  • Facilitates interactive face-to-face or virtual instructor-led training sessions. Uses a variety of activities and formats to meet learning objectives such as presentations, role plays, team exercises, large group discussions, and breakout groups.
  • Monitors and evaluates success of courses and learning programs. Interviews learners and business partners and uses key performance indicators (KPIs), when possible, to determine effectiveness. Develops alternative or supplemental learning experiences in partnership with subject matter experts if desired results are not met.
  • Manages and updates learning content and programs on a regular basis to ensure relevance and accuracy, partnering with business partners and subject matter experts, as appropriate. Identifies opportunities and takes action to maximize learning hours and evolve the learner's experience when possible.
  • Acts as a trusted and credible consultant that supports organizational performance and promotes a culture of learning. Engages business partners and stakeholders regularly to understand ongoing and changing needs and drive adoption of training programs.

  • Possesses a high degree of planning, organization and project management skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of associates and within a face-to-face/virtual/remote environment.

Education:

  • Undergraduate or master's degree in a related field


Related Experience, Qualifications and/or Certifications:

  • Has 3+ years in the role of Learning & Development Specialist or another relevant position.
  • Proven, strong experience developing training programs for adult learners in corporate and retail field sales, services, and customer care teams.
  • Has experience creating and maintaining training programs in a Learning Management System.


Computer Skills / Special Equipment Knowledge:

  • Expertise in the Microsoft office suite and Articulate 360/Rise (Camtasia is a plus)
  • Experience administering Learning Management Systems - Schoox is a plus
  • Experience with a content management system (e.g., SharePoint)
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and proficiency with virtual platforms (i.e., Adobe Connect and Microsoft Teams).
