General Description:
The Learning and Development Specialist for OU Health will be a motivated professional knowledgeable in adult learning and instructional design. This professional will collaborate with subject matter experts, Talent Management peers, cross-functional leaders, and key stakeholders to design, develop, and facilitate engaging learning opportunities across the enterprise through a variety of modalities (e-learning, in-person, virtual, webinars, video, job aids, microlearning, articles, etc.) that promote exciting learning initiatives enhancing the organizations learning culture. This individual will have the flexibility to design and organize training courses by combining creativity, research, and analysis of existing and new materials. In addition, they will manage courses in HealthStream, our LMS, and be responsible for registration, learning documentation, and monitoring reports for internal and external training. Specifically for the clinics, coordinates regularly scheduled instructor-led webinars and classes, manages and provides support for the department's learning management system, and facilitates the onboarding of new employees, managers, and providers. Responsible for the management and facilitation of the OU Physicians' new provider onboarding process.

Experience: 2-3 Years of Experience in Adult Learning Theories, Training, Instructional Design and Human Resources

Instructor-Led Training or Facilitation Skills:
- Facilitate learning programs for leadership and individual contributor level learners.
- Deliver classroom/virtual training, recorded webinars and e-learning events.
- Create an engaging, positive, and professional learning environment conducive to various learning styles and mastery of knowledge and skills.
- Sets classroom standards and expectations through example in his/her conduct, work ethic, integrity, and character.
- Understanding the importance of classroom dynamics (large group, small group, individual learner).
- Motivate the learners by using the most effective training methodologies.
Course and Content Development or Instructional Design:
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of current training and development research, learning theories, motivation theories, instructional design models, and learning techniques.
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and/or builds new instructor-led training courses, with an emphasis on creating a blended learning experience for the staff of OUHP.
- Design and develop various types of learning content (e-learning, classroom, webinars) for Talent Development that is engaging and interactive using adult learning methodologies based on learning objectives and audience.
- May perform an in-depth needs analysis to uncover learner and organizational needs and identify performance gaps and changes in work processes and procedures. This may entail gathering, analyzing, and organizing learning and development needs through surveys, and interviews with employees, leaders, and SMEs.
- Builds new and/or updates existing SCORM eLearning courses to support the OUP clinic and business operations using the Articulate software suite, with an emphasis on the Storyline and Rise e-authoring tools.
- Additionally, builds, designs, and creates content, graphics, and assets for job aids, instructor-led training, eLearning courses, or other training initiatives, as needed and specific to the OUP clinic operations, processes, and procedures.
- Furthermore, writes, records, edits, and produces any requested or needed screencasts, narrated recordings, or videos for courses and/or "just-in-time" training initiatives.
- Utilize training/instructional design authoring and multimedia tools and software for assigned development projects.
- Devise ways to assess and measure the learner's comprehension level through tests or quizzes, interactive activities, and exercises.
Talent Management Support:
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate training content is relevant to target audiences and drives business outcomes.
- Creates and maintains all training documentation: manuals, quick reference guides, online learning resources, and learning assessments.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.)
- Administer and populate training course data in the learning management system, including updating course content, tracking attendance/usage, and reporting.
- Coordinate training calendars, meeting spaces, vendor arrangements, and other logistics related to Talent Management.
- Assist with communication and promotion of Talent Development programs.
- Provides intradepartmental and OUP clinic-wide support for various issues related to the learning management system, instructor-led classes, eLearning courses, training website, and/or department SharePoint intranet site, as needed.
- Assist the Talent Management Team in anticipating future business changes and challenges and proactively develop and implement new or revised plans to maintain a competitive service environment.
Employee Orientations:
- Leverages the resources and staff of the Training and Development department to conduct, update, and facilitate all new employee orientation, clinical orientation, new manager onboarding, and new provider onboarding for OU Health Physicians and the 76+ clinics.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Instructional Design, Education Technology, Adult Learning/Training, Graphic Arts or an equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
Experience: 2-3 Years of Experience in Adult Learning Theories, Training, Instructional Design and Human Resources
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in adult learning, instructional design, and understand ADDIE and other instructional systems design (ISD) models.
- Experience using content development software (Adobe Captivate, iSpring Suite, etc.) and HealthStream LMS preferred.
- Visual design skills (Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, SnagIt, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to write compelling copy, instructional text, and audio scripts/video scripts.
- Ability to apply learning theory and business needs to relevant and practical learning opportunities
- Strong facilitation skills, understanding the importance of keeping the learner engaged.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and consulting abilities cross-functionally, cross-culturally, and across levels within the organization.
- Demonstrate a positive, open-minded, can-do attitude. Adaptable and flexible to change, and understands how to prioritize requests and quickly respond.
- High energy level, superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build professional relationships and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Effectively communicate, and collaborate with peers, teammates, management, and subject matter experts.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Basic knowledge of Talent Management principles.
