Job Description
Certified Group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to lead the development, customization, and maintenance of customer-facing portals for our Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This role plays a critical part in supporting scientific workflows and operational efficiency across our laboratories. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with major LIMS platforms, excellent software development and database skills, and a strong understanding of laboratory and regulatory environments.
Essential Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and configure LIMS workflows, forms, and functionalities to meet evolving business and lab requirements.
β’ Customize LIMS using platform-specific tools, scripting languages, and configuration frameworks.
β’ Partner with laboratory personnel, IT teams, and quality stakeholders to gather requirements and implement effective technical solutions.
β’ Integrate LIMS with laboratory instruments and enterprise applications (e.g., ERP, ELN, MES).
β’ Ensure system validation and regulatory compliance with standards including GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and internal SOPs.
β’ Develop and maintain technical documentation such as design specifications, validation protocols, test cases, and user guides.
β’ Provide ongoing LIMS support, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, training, and performance tuning.
β’ Continuously monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend enhancements and best practices.
Education & Experience:
Required:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage, Thermo Fisher SampleManager).
β’ Proficient in programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, C#, SQL, or JavaScript.
β’ Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, sample management, and ALCOA+ data integrity best practices.
β’ Experience in software development life cycle (SDLC) within regulated environments.
β’ Solid knowledge of relational databases and database design principles.
Preferred:
β’ Experience with LIMS integrations using REST/SOAP APIs or middleware tools.
β’ Familiarity with cloud-based LIMS deployments or SaaS platforms.
β’ Experience working in Agile or DevOps-driven environments.
