Live Producer

KUTV has an immediate opening for a creative Live Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for creating content that is used in different shows. This includes newscasts and ARC Salt Lake. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on the newscast and its content. This is a unique opportunity for a strong candidate looking to have an immediate impact on several different projects daily. As the Live Producer, your goal is to work with the newscast Producers to add interesting and creative content to several of our shows. That includes working with the team that producers ARC Salt Lake. ARC is Authentic, Relevant, Community- highlighting what is happening in the area, and topics important to our viewers. You'll also team up with our news Producers- helping bring in key guests to add a layer of depth and context to our newscasts. For any show, this includes booking "newsmaker" guests, crafting segments that dive a bit deeper. This is a great role for the right person to flex some creative muscle!

This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on the newscast and its content. In this position you will produce unique content that is used in several shows.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid news judgment
• Ability to be proactive and independent- someone who recognizes opportunities.
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Be able to multitask while working on several projects simultaneously.
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
• Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews

Experience:

• Must have at least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• A Journalism degree is preferred
