Role Overview:

As the Logistics Team Lead for Abcam's biological products in Eugene, Oregon, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the end-to-end logistics process. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the seamless receipt, processing, storage, and shipment of vital biological products to our global network of logistics hubs. Customer service is at the heart of everything we do, and you'll be instrumental in delivering exceptional service to our valued customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Expertly lead end-to-end logistics workstreams, ensuring the seamless receipt, processing, storage, and shipment of biological products.
  • Drive and sustain a culture of continuous improvement within the team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop logistics technicians through comprehensive training, feedback, and development mechanisms.
  • Ensure effective communication of policies and procedures to all Logistics staff, addressing performance in alignment with Abcam's guidelines.
  • Collaborate with global logistics teams to maintain shared standards, policies, procedures, and systems/tools, meeting key performance indicator targets.
  • Play an active role in strategic changes, contributing to the growth of logistics within our rapidly expanding business.
  • Utilize effective communication and negotiation skills to resolve critical or escalated issues affecting customers or staff, fostering a culture of open communication within the team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position should hold a Bachelor's degree in a scientific or operations discipline, although this is preferred. Having qualifications in Health & Safety (H&S) and Import/Export is advantageous. It is essential that the candidate has demonstrated at least 2 years of management experience in logistics or warehousing operations. Experience in working within a team-oriented environment is also crucial. Familiarity with Abcam logistics platforms, specifically Oracle and Scale, is essential. Experience in other functional areas is desirable. Continuous improvement training (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) is a plus, and the candidate should have strong attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and the skill to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational and time management skills are expected, along with a proven track record of problem-solving and driving change. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, is required. Effective communication skills at all levels (both written and oral) are a must, as the candidate will be expected to lead by example, proactively seek performance improvements, and demonstrate confidence and leadership. Additionally, being approachable, collaborative, enthusiastic, and embodying the qualities of a good role model are essential for success in this role.
