Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing defense autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations for the Department of Defense (DoD) through autonomous and intelligent platforms. We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of manual and CNC machines to fabricate and assemble components for our autonomous surface vessels. The Machinist will play a critical role in the development of our products, ensuring high precision, quality, and efficiency in the production of key vessel components. Key Responsibilities: β€’ β€’ Machine Operation: Operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and other equipment to fabricate parts from metals, plastics, and composites according to engineering drawings and specifications. β€’ Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately manufacture parts with high tolerance. β€’ Prototyping & Production: Work closely with engineers and the R&D team to prototype and refine new vessel components. Transition prototypes into full-scale production. β€’ Quality Control: Perform in-process inspections, measuring parts using precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with tolerances and quality standards. β€’ Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Maintain and troubleshoot machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. β€’ Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and other production team members to ensure components meet performance, safety, and design requirements. β€’ Material Handling: Safely handle and manage various materials, including metals, composites, and plastics, ensuring proper use, storage, and disposal. β€’ Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback and suggestions on manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety practices. Qualifications β€’ β€’ Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in machining, with a focus on both manual and CNC machine operation. β€’ Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, etc.) and machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders). β€’ Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. β€’ Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and high attention to detail, ensuring that all parts meet stringent specifications. β€’ Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues related to equipment, materials, and processes. β€’ Safety Consciousness: Knowledge of and adherence to safe machining practices, equipment operation protocols, and safety standards. β€’ Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with engineers and other machinists to meet project deadlines and quality standards. Preferred Qualifications β€’ β€’ Experience with materials commonly used in marine environments, such as marine-grade metals and composites. β€’ Familiarity with CAD/CAM software. β€’ Experience in the robotics, aerospace, or marine industries.
