Position Summary:

The Manager, Accounting will be a key member of the corporate accounting team reporting to the Sr. Manager, Accounting and is responsible for oversight of the global monthly close and consolidation process. The role also includes application of US GAAP over technical areas including fair value accounting, stock-based compensation expense, accruals, purchase accounting and other areas as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting team responsible for fair value accounting, cash and investments, equity accounting and financial reporting (FS presentation and selected footnote support).
  • Orchestrate the monthly, quarterly and year-end closes by working with respective stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support Sr Manager in execution of internal controls including preparation of flux analysis, monthly financial results deck for review with CAO, delivery of supporting schedules to the SEC team for financial reporting on Form 10-Q/ 10-K.
  • Develop and maintain our accounting policies and procedures, ensure they are in accordance with GAAP, adhered to in practice and that accounting conventions and thresholds are still appropriate.
  • As needed, support accounting for stock-based compensation expense and prepare share count (basic/ diluted EPS and work with stock admin team for accuracy at quarter end), ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Design, implement and maintain accounting and financial reporting controls in the financial statement close, accruals, stock-based compensation expense processes, ensuring compliance with SOX 404.
  • Lead cross-functional projects as requested, including design of end-to-end processes, working with Finance BI and/or GIS to design, test and implement systems, evaluate and advise accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, interim testing, and annual audits. Manage external auditors and PBC process for quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Support the SEC reporting team by overseeing and approving the results of quarterly and annual SEC footnote disclosures as needed.
  • Recruit top talent to the Accounting team and mentor team members, helping them reach their peak potential; foster a culture of continuous improvement complete with benchmarks for measuring successful performance

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Minimum of 6 years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience, including experience in a management/ oversight role capacity. Combination of public accounting firm (Big 4, preferred) and/ or public company experience.
  • Life science and manufacturing industries accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply GAAP to real-life issues at hand.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Process improvement expertise, an ability to implement new operational processes and understand internal control procedures based on Sarbanes Oxley financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to receive assignments in the form of objectives and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Ability to make decisions, handle unforeseen issues and effectively deal with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability in interacting with all levels of management effectively.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Power Point

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $113,600 - $170,400. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
