Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Manager – Data Architect to oversee the development and utilization of data systems. You will be reporting to the Director – Data Engineering, to join our dynamic team in the Foreign Exchange payments processing industry. The ideal candidate is responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise data architecture strategy and ensuring robust data governance across the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of business processes, technology, data management, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with business and IT leaders to ensure that the enterprise data architecture supports business goals, and that data governance policies and standards are adhered to across the organization. This role involves managing data architecture, data governance, data modeling, data analytics, data reporting and data security. It also includes building a new data platform, integrating data from various sources, and ensuring data availability for various application and reporting needs. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with AI/ML technologies and collaborating with data scientists to meet their data requirements.Â
In your role as Manager – Data Architect, you will:Â
- Design and implement data models and data architectures to support business applications, analytics and reporting. Â
- Develop and maintain the overall enterprise data architecture framework, including the alignment of IT strategy with business goals. Design and implement data architectural solutions that meet business requirements while ensuring scalability, security, and sustainability.Â
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and assess business needs, translating them into data architectural requirements.Â
- Lead the development and maintenance of data architecture roadmaps, ensuring the integration of emerging technologies.Â
- Provide guidance on the selection of technology platforms, tools, and vendors. Ensure that data architectural solutions are compliant with relevant standards and best practices.
- Establish and oversee data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure effective data management, ensuring data quality, consistency, security and compliance with regulations across the organization.Â
- Lead the development of data governance frameworks and implement data stewardship models. Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and IT teams to enforce data governance standards and practices.Â
- Develop and maintain a data catalog and metadata repository to ensure data assets are well-documented and accessible.Â
- Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement in data management practices. Provide training and support to business units on data governance best practices and tools.
- Work closely with application developers, business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions. Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of enterprise data architecture and data governance initiatives.Â
- Lead and mentor a team of architects and data governance professionals. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice adoption within the data architecture and data governance teams.
- Integrate data from various sources into a cohesive and efficient data platform. Implement and maintain robust data security measures to protect sensitive information.Â
- Ensure that enterprise data architecture and data governance practices comply with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Identify and mitigate risks related to data management, IT infrastructure, and business continuity.
- Oversee the overall data lifecycle, including data collection, storage, processing, analysis and reporting.Â
- Collaborate with data scientists to make data available for AI/ML projects, ensuring the data meets their needs for model training and analysis.Â
- Utilize modern data technologies such as Data Lake, Snowflake, Micro Services, Salesforce, Tableau Reports and other relevant tools to enhance data management capabilities.Â
A successful candidate for this position should have:Â
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data management and data governance, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.Â
- Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture frameworks, data modeling and data governance models.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide IT and data strategies. Excellent knowledge of data management, data quality, data privacy, and data security practices. Â
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex data challenges. Strong leadership and project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud platforms, cloud technologies, big data platforms, and modern data architecture.Â
Nice to have Qualifications:Â
- Experience with regulatory compliance related to data management (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and data analytics.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and/or architecture (e.g., SAFe, Trainings).Â
