We currently have an immediate need for a Manager, Sales Engineering

About the Role: The Manager of Sales Support Engineering will be responsible for all pre- and post-sales engineering and operational support functions in support of Aviat solutions. The position reports to the VP of Sales and Services for North America. The position will provide a leadership role, management oversight, and mentoring to the following groups within the position's management domain: sales engineering, proposals support, and miscellaneous sales, such as, spares, upgrades, etc

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all groups have In-depth knowledge of Aviat Networks solutions, their value proposition, advantage and differentiation with respect to the competition and market opportunities.
• Support proposals/quotes with system design, scope of work, responses to technical specifications. Assisting with the definition of system configurations, network planning, responses to technical specifications, and preparation of Bill of Materials. Introduce the technology and provide commercial and technical information concerning our product (unique selling points) as well as assist the prospect in building a relevant Business Case.
• Review and edit procedural and process documentation to ensure the highest level of operational performance efficiencies are maintained in the group. Also work with internal groups like IT, Order Management and Field Services to review and implement new process improvement initiatives.
• Interfaces with PLM, R&D, Marketing, etc.) to help specify and coordinate the strategy and development of NA-specific functionality and products.
• Interfaces with Field Services, Order Management, Logistics, Finance, etc. to ensure projects (equipment only and turnkey) maintain their schedule in support of revenue recognition.
• Help coordinate revenue conversion of newer projects with Network Design Engineering and Program Management teams - specifically for design finalization and release.
• Support customer/prospect penetration strategy, which includes measurable and achievable milestones such as Lab/Field Trials, MOU's, Reselling, OEMs, JVs contracts, etc.
• Work with OEM vendor partners to establish best practices related to equipment standardizations.
• Make presentations of Aviat Networks solutions to customers, prospects, tradeshow events, etc.
• Work with Finance to maintain and track the department's budget.
• Track metrics for workload utilization and efficiency quality metric as it relates to SE output, including quote accuracy, clarity of communications and overall design integrity. Make recommendations on headcount needs.
• Keep track of individual skill sets; maintain a training plan for the team. Management of employee annual performance reviews.
• Lead weekly/bi-weekly staff meetings with team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical/business discipline preferred
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in position related to sales support in Telecom
• Understanding of Telecommunications/Microwave theory and practices, desired
• Solid understanding of IP/MPLS, Network topologies (linear backbones, rings, meshes), SONET/SDH, T3/E3, T1/E1, DSOs, VLANs, 802.1q tagging, routing protocols, VPNs, Tunnels (L2TP, L3TP), Firewalls, IPSec, RADIUS, multicast systems, Shared IP services: DNS, DHCP, QoS, Timing and Synchronization
• Excellent motivator & communicator (written and verbal), with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
• Strong on logic, problem solving and analytical skills, able to manage large team, multiple tasks and issues simultaneously
• Exceptional inter-personal skills enabling teamwork
• Diplomacy both internally and externally with partners / customers
• Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office based software packages, Salesforce, and Oracle, preferred
