Job Description

Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers, while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!

Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The team:

Jobber has a Security team led by our Sr. Director, Security. The team has a split focus between governance and operations. All team members are specialized generalists (with a primary focus but we do a bit of everything). As the team develops and grows, you will be collaborating with each member while we work towards making Jobber as secure as possible. We’ll also drive toward team member specialization as we ramp up on capacity and tooling.

The role:

Reporting to the Sr.Director, Security, the Manager, Security Operations will lead a small team that runs the day to day of our security capabilities. We are seeking a hands-on Security Operations Leader comfortable with both leadership and execution. This individual will be both a people leader and contributor, driving security operations forward. This is not a SOC (Security Operations Center) role. We operate in a hub and spoke model. In this role, you will identify security gaps and weaknesses, track them through risk management, and collaborate with teams and control owners to ensure visibility and resolution of security issues. We’re a maturing security org, this is a new function and success will involve building the plane while we fly it. You’ll also be identifying gaps in security capabilities and proposing solutions.

The Manager, Security Operations will:

  • Lead and manage a small but growing team of security professionals while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Actively participate in hands-on security tasks, setting an example for the team.
  • Identify security capability gaps within the organization and select appropriate tools and technologies to address these gaps.
  • Collaborate on compelling business cases for the acquisition and implementation of new security tools and technologies.
  • Work with various teams and control owners to ensure that security issues are visible and addressed promptly.
  • Assess security configuration and maturity across a range of technologies including Okta, Cloudflare, AWS, macOS, Datadog, CASB/DLP, Salesforce, and Tableau.
  • Monitor and assess security threats and vulnerabilities, and provide guidance on implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.
  • Report to the Sr. Director of Security, providing regular updates on security operations and risk management activities.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a security operations leadership role with hands-on technical skills.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and security frameworks.
  • Experience with a range of security technologies including Okta, Cloudflare, AWS, macOS, Datadog, CASB/DLP, Salesforce, and Tableau.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present business cases for security investments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

All interviews are currently being conducted virtually—via phone or video.

What you can expect from Jobber:

Having been named as a Top 10 Great Place to Work in Canada, we walk the talk. Here are just some of the great things you can expect from us:

  • A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, RRSP matching, and stock options.
  • A dedicated Coaching and Development function, including Development Coaches, to help build the career you want and hit the goals you set, while ensuring you’re reaching your fullest potential.
  • Support for all your breaks: from vacation to rest and recharge, your birthday off to celebrate, health days to support your physical and mental health, and parental leave top-ups to support your growing family.
  • A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.
  • To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
