We are looking for hands-on engineering leaders to achieve this journey! As an Engineering Manager of Software Engineering at Guidewire you will empower and support 2 to 3 self-sufficient teams. You will have the opportunity to impact and contribute to a complex application suite of products that generate over 1B dollars of revenue annually, mission-critical to 400+ enterprises serving more than a million users.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the application development activities by multiple agile/scrum teams/pods for the world’s leading Insurance Platform.
  • Coordinate the design, analysis, development, debugging, and improvement of Guidewire’s Insurance products in the world market.
  • Attract, retain, develop, and motivate top-notch engineering talent
  • Drive Engineering Excellence
  • Ensure effective collaboration and communication with peers and stakeholders across the organization
  • Coach team members, including assisting them with career growth and personal development.
  • Collaborate with product managers for project planning and prioritization to execute the roadmap and ensure the successful delivery of insurance products.
  • Trust your team, and be trusted by your manager and colleagues to make good decisions
  • Proactively communicate with senior leadership and drive the change.

Required Skills:

  • BS or MS degree (CS/IT or Math) or equivalent
  • 12+ years of Software Development Experience especially in SaaS and/or PaaS
  • 4+ years of proven experience in managing Software Engineers including performance and career management
  • 2+ years of leading and managing multiple Agile/Scrum teams in Software Product Development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical information to all sorts of audiences.
  • A ceaseless desire to improve how things get done, a strong promoter of automation.
  • Fluency in one of the object-oriented languages such as Java, Go, etc
  • Extensive Experience with public cloud AWS/GCP/Azure
  • An advocate of DDD, BDD, TDD, and API first
  • Understanding of cloud services and architecture like Docker, K8’s
  • Solid understanding of system design principles, distributed systems and architecture
  • Leading projects from inception to completion with collaboration across teams
  • Risk mitigation and handling dependencies
  • A calm, rational demeanor under pressure. Having a sense of humor helps!
