Job Description

Responsibilities
Medical Assistant I provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN.

Medical Assistant II/III performs the same supportive care functions, with additional responsibilities including the administration of injectables and/or other high-level skill performance.

Salary Range: $39,179–$57,548 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

Qualifications

Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED; graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school.
Preferred: N/A

Experience
Required:
MA I – Entry-level role. No experience required with Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant, or 1 year of directly related experience as a medical assistant without Certification/Registration. Employees in the role before November 24, 2024, will be grandfathered based on previous experience.

MA II – 5 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant with Certification/Registration, or 6 years without Certification/Registration.
Dept. Family Medicine may require 5 years of direct face-to-face customer service including cash handling or collections experience within a medical office, healthcare setting, or other service-related industry AND 3 years of directly related phlebotomy experience.

MA III – 8 years of directly related experience with Certification/Registration, or 9 years without Certification/Registration.
Preferred: Ambulatory Care experience (MA I/II/III)

Preferred: N/A

Special Skills
Required: Must complete the review/skill validation program within 90 days of hire. Able to use equipment and related supplies for the selected patient population. Computer experience and basic medical/nursing terminology.
Preferred: Windows-based computer skills; EPIC experience.

Other Requirements
MA I – BLS through American Heart Association.
MA II/III – BLS certified through American Heart Association. Must complete the module-specific program(s) for MA II (e.g., Immunizations - Primary, Immunizations - OB/GYN, Wound Care, etc.)
