Job Description

U.S. Got People is searching for a Medical Laboratory Technician to work Full-Time at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Qualifications for Laboratory Technicians
  • Education: Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or other national certifying agency deemed comparable.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience as a Clinical or Medical Laboratory Technician
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association or Red Cross

Job duties for Laboratory Technicians may include but are not limited to:
  • Set up and break down of mobile drive equipment
  • Assist donors in the preparation of donor card demographics information
  • Prepare bags for issue at blood drives in accordance with established Operating Instructions (Operating Instructions).
  • Input donor demographics into the LIS computer system
  • Obtain donor history
  • Perform daily quality control on all equipment and reagents in accordance with established donor center OIs.
  • Determine whether donors meet acceptable criteria for hemoglobin according to established donor center OIs.
  • Assess donor temperature, pulse and blood pressure and annotate on the DD Form 572 donor record.
  • Perform donor interview and determine donor eligibility.
  • Review donor cards for completeness and determine donor eligibility.
  • Register blood donors, perform bag issue, and process whole blood bags.
