About the Role

We're looking for an Android Software Engineer with a passion for innovation to help build features that enhance Trust and Safety across our platform. Your work will focus on ensuring authenticity, eligibility, compliance and safe experiences for millions of users.

You'll collaborate with a high-caliber, international team of engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver impactful solutions. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including Gen AI, you'll contribute to making one of the world's largest gig platforms safer and more reliable.

This is a flexible hybrid position and we expect to have some regular (weekly or monthly) presence in the office, whose frequency can be aligned with your manager.

Quick Fact: Recently, the Trust & Safety team achieved a significant reduction in post-delivery safety incidents by using AI to monitor conversations between consumers and dashers. This means we will protect thousands of users from seeing inappropriate messages on their phones each year.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

• Build, release, and maintain large-scale Android applications delivering seamless experiences to millions of users worldwide.
• Design and implement Trust and Safety features that enhance authenticity, compliance, and user protection.
• Collaborate closely with backend teams to ensure smooth integration and excellent user experiences.
• Optimize app performance, reliability, observability and scalability.

We're excited about you because you have...

• B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of industry experience developing mobile apps.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and the Android ecosystem (Android SDK, frameworks, APIs).
• Familiarity with modern Android development practices (Jetpack libraries).
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming (Coroutine).
• A track record of building, launching, and iterating on Android apps.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of app security best practices (e.g., secure storage, API protection).
• Experience handling sensitive user data and ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR.
