You will also provide network project leadership for design and installation projects using standard technologies with a focus on network security and contemporary technology. What you will do
You will provide senior level network architecture services focusing on designing, configuring, and integrating new network technologies into the Johnson Controls Global Network ecosystem. You will also provide network project leadership for design and installation projects using standard technologies with a focus on network security and contemporary technology. You will be comfortable leading discussions at the executive level.
How you will do it
- Provide senior level network architecture expertise and services, including Preform Product Research, Build Service Design, preparing Decision Trees, Build Configuration Templates, preparing Bill of Materials and Deployment Guide that will be used by Internal and vendor Network Engineers globally to integrate new solution into Johnson Controls network technologies.
- Own aspects of the project cycle from engagement to design, pricing and hand-over to delivery Network Engineering team.
- Conduct functional Pilot testing and provides recommendations based on the results.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural governance on all solutions.
- Provide extensive technical knowledge in a specialist field with a broad range of knowledge of all infrastructure technologies.
- Complete capacity planning activities, including monitoring and tracking capacity metrics. Initiates actions to prevent degradation caused by capacity issues.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual Network add/update/remove tasks.
- Collaborate with end users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommends technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
- Work closely with strategic partners and vendors on design and next generation technologies.
- Thoroughly understand and comply with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels. Thoroughly understand and comply with Information Security policies and procedures.
- Expected to be level 4 technical escalation point.
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Participate in the development of technical strategy, roadmaps and future state architectures.
What we look for
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years' experience in enterprise network architecture, engineering and operations.
- Strong Cisco Routing/Switching configuration/diagnostic experience
- Experience with deploying and managing networks in an Azure & Google IaaS, PaaS Cloud environment. AWS and Oracle is desirable
- Experience with Equnix cloud exchange solution
- Working understanding of Network Automation using Python, SQL, HTML, API and CI/CD Pipeline (azure Devops, Jenkins, Git)
- Hands-on experience in network design, engineering, monitoring, circuit provisioning, vendor management and troubleshooting.
- Experience with all Cisco LAN, WAN and WLAN technologies, VPN, load balancers, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, etc.
- Experience with network security solutions; ASA, palo alto, Fortinet, Firepower, IOS Firewall, AnyConnect, StealthWatch, Cisco ISE NAC, Umbrella
- Knowledge of networking infrastructure suppliers and service offerings including Cisco, F5 Networks (LTM, GTM, APM), Zscaler (ZIA and ZPA)
- Working knowledge of network features and protocols such as spanning tree, TCP/IP V4/V6, SIP, ARP, CDP, LLDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, EtherChannel, 802.1Q trunking , MPLS, VRF, HSRP, GLBP, VSS/VSL/VPC, QoS, Multicast, 802.11n/ac, IPsec, DMVPN, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, NAT, NTP, and HTTPS, SSL.
- Knowledge of Carrier Services - WAN Circuits, MPLS, VPNS, VRFs, Ethernet, OCx, DS3, Broadband
- Experience with Meraki full stack Router, switch and APs
- Experience in SD networking SDWAN (Velocloud /Silverpeak /Viptela) and VMware NSX Data Center Networking
- Experience with DDI Solution. (Infoblox/ bluecat/ NS1)
- Experience with IoT, Cellular Transport, and Wireless Security.
- Strong skills and desire to work in a process-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in a global network environment.
- Responsible for the documentation and topology maps for all network components.
- Strong networking project leadership skills.
