Favor TechConsulting, LLC (FTC) is seeking a talented Network Engineer with extensive government experience and the Department of Justice experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Role Overview: FTC supports the Department of Justice (DOJ) Tax Division by providing IT Support services. We are looking for a network engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and administering our client’s computer networks. Your primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. You will also be working closely with the users of our network in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.


Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of network address translation and policy based routing.
  • Knowledge of IPSec
  • Extensive knowledge of switching technologies (802.1Q, STP, RSTP, PVST+ etc).
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP and other basic protocols
  • Knowledge of DNS, FTP • Knowledge of ACI, SDN, SD-WAN, SNMP
  • Experience supporting secure enterprise wireless networks; including Aruba knowledge and experience
  • Experience supporting IP-based voice and video systems, including QoS on both LAN and WAN infrastructure
  • Good working knowledge of Juniper, Cisco and Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security appliances including Junos
  • Familiarity with Cisco Telepresence on Tandberg hardware
  • Familiarity with Websense, NetBrain, InfoBlox, Solarwind, Atlas, NetFlow, ArgoSec, Riverbed, Steeel head, Splunk/ArcSight, AWS or other
  • Writing scripts to automate manual tasks and to streamline operational tasks
  • Experience in Implementing and Supporting applications load balancing using F5
  • TM and GTM load balancing concepts
  • Extensive knowledge of VPN technologies
  • Ability to generate and interpret packet traces via Sniffer, Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, and/or ping to diagnose and troubleshoot
  • Responsible for LAN & WAN
  • Knowledge of multicast routing protocols such as PIM as well as IGMPv1, v2 and v3
  • Knowledge of IPv6, IPV4
  • Knowledge of firewall technologies and the ability to generate rule sets.
  • Knowledge of wireless Ethernet technologies (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.1x) a plus
  • Understanding of network topologies
  • Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
  • Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees and management
  • Implementing disaster recovery procedures

  • Experience working in a Cisco Environment Experience with Cisco Integrated Service Engine
  • Experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS Direct connects Certifications
  • Connects Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required

  • Experience providing IT support to end-users over the phone, using remote tools.
  • Experience in working with vendors for warranty, asset replacements, and repairs
