Summary
The Network Engineer supports and improves the customer's large-scale IT environment with SLRs/SLAs for high availability and uptime. The Network Engineer manages, maintains, plans, schedules, integrates, and troubleshoots the overall network and its devices-WANs, LANs, WLANs, VPNs, VoIP, etc.-and monitors network health. The Network Engineer will handle network installation planning, upgrades, cutovers, and testing. The Network Engineer will implement network security best practices.
Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve or escalate Incidents and Problems with internal and external groups (Data Center team, application support teams, Monitoring NOC, Vendors, ISPs, etc.)
• Configure and install network routers, switches, and appliances, including IMAC requests, in accordance with ITIL best practices using ServiceNow
• Perform day-to-day operational tasks to maintain network stability
• Work with stakeholders and application owners to maintain operational redundancy, resiliency, of client services
• Optimize bandwidth utilization and plan network capacity based on the customer's evolving needs (e.g., new applications)
• Collaborate with the Senior Network Architect on design improvements, capacity planning and changes in business requirements
• Perform vulnerability investigations, and mitigations, on network infrastructure for PCI, HIPPA and other network compliance

Requirements

• Current CCNA/CCNP certification perferred
• Certified in Tellabs Optical Lan (Planning and Design, Deployment, and Operations and Maintenance)
• Be proficient with Tellabs Optical LAN Management, OLT and ONT, and capable of training others on multiple configurations and scalability options and considerations.
• Oversees the design and operation of OLT clusters and clustering technologies.
• Perform installation fundamentals including powering, grounding, and fiber connectivity
• Perform turn up procedures for the Tellabs OLAN Network Element equipment (OLT)
• Perform initial configuration procedures for the Tellabs Optical LAN equipment and services using the Tellabs Panorama EMS
• Perform the installation and maintenance of new releases and major enhancements.
• Perform equipment testing and troubleshooting procedures
• 3-5 years of experience in multi-site networks supporting 1000+ users
• Well versed in ITIL concepts
• Familiarity with common network tools e.g, bits set, loopback plugs, laser lights for fiber identification, etc.
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and managing: Cisco Prime, Cisco DNAC, Cisco ISE, Solarwinds, and Infoblox
• Supports Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) architecture with the following types of switching (IP, ATM, and frame relay), wavelength switching in a wavelength-routed network, port or fiber switching in a wavelength-division-multiplexing network
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and managing: Palo Alto Network firewalls and BigIP/F5 experiences a plus
• Self-starting attitude looking to take ownership of managing the environment
