Required Skills: 

  • 5+ years’ experience as network engineer 
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network infrastructure including LAN, Wireless, MPLS, Firewalls and Datacentre 
  • Demonstrable experience troubleshooting network issues 
  • Deep knowledge of network infrastructure protocols, including BGP and OSPF 

Key responsibilities & duties include: 

  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware and configurations 
  • Working closely with partners, vendors and associated support teams 
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required 
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and other network and system problems
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
  • Supporting the network operation lifecycle by reviewing and implementing change, supporting delivery of new services, working with the network manager on capacity and uptime
  • Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems 

Desirable Skills: 

  • Network certification (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA)  
  • Experience with at least one of the following vendors (more is beneficial): Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, McAfee, F5, Avaya, Netscreen, Forcepoint 
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Ability to create and document network infrastructure
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organisation
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary
  • Knowledge of network security
  • Experience of working in a production AWS environment
  • Experience of delivering or supporting an SDWAN environment
  • Network automation experience
  • Experience of Fabric network deployments
  • Wider Cyber experience with network security tools
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment
  • Experience of working in critical infrastructure environments
