What You'll Get to Do:
As a CACI-Wexford NSW Explosives, Ordnance Handling Expert, you will provide all-encompassing ordnance-related support, during all facets of training, for identified Naval Special Warfare (NSW) training divisions. You will provide expert ordnance handling expertise, materiel tracking, and assist with the identification of munitions/weapons inventories and provide the full range of SME support for complex training evolutions to Naval Special Warfare (NSW) component command and units located on the East Coast in support of NSW's Inter-deployment Training Cycle (IDTC).
More About the Role:
As an NSW Explosives Ordnance Handling Expert, you will support and participate to assist the NSW Command and specified Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Training Divisions in determining training requirements and recommended quantities and types of ordnance required. You will draft ordnance requisitions and track those requests from TRADET Divisions through all phases of ordering, Government approval, transportation, utilization, storage and return in compliance with Navy and NSW policy. You will support and participate in the planning, coordination, and execution of Training plans, and develop and coordinate ordnance transportation support for those training events, arranging authorization to establish field ASPs and Service Ranges when required.
You will provide direct support to IDTC Training cycle events with a focus on enhancing unit effectiveness to ensure NSW components are prepared to provide enduring NSW capabilities and operational competencies for battlefield performance. You will schedule and de-conflict annual weapon assessments and conduct monthly weapons and night vision inventories, and forward your findings to LOGSU Armory personnel. You will assist with weapon and ordnance testing and evaluation and track and update qualification and certifications training requirements for all ordnance managers and TRADET2 active duty Gunner's Mates (GM). You will also assist with weapon and ordnance testing and evaluation as required.
You will participate in Training After Action Reports (AARs) and identify and analyze issues and concerns and generate recommended mitigations and solutions based upon your experience working with NSW, elements of the DOD, and interagency and international partners. While providing support, you will directly support embedded teammates; answer requests for support from units; and work closely with a wide variety of NSW units, institutions, and partners. You will assist with training/preparation, conduct professional development within the CACI-Wexford SOF Support Team, and mentor new members of the team to ensure they are ready to succeed.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Minimum Five years' of direct experience providing AA&E explosives, ordnance handling support
- Minimum Two years' of direct experience as an Armorer (Navy/NSW highly preferred)
- Prior military or civilian Military Ammunitions Accountability and Explosive (AA&E) Ordnance Handler Certification (see OPNAVINST 8023.24(series).
- Previous certification and experience providing support as a Range Safety Officer (RSO)
- CDL with Hazmat endorsement and CDL medical certification for 15 ton truck required
- Current active Secret Security Clearance.
- Working knowledge of the Navy Ordnance Information System (OIS) and associated processes
- Ability to attend and complete NSW Armorer Course within 12 months of hire
- Ability to take, pass and maintain government provided qualification and certification for Ammunition and Explosive (AE) tasks including:
- Ammo-49
- Ammo-51
- Ammo-62
- You must possess the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- You will be able to provide daily feedback to the team lead on product development.
- Ability to understand a wide range of guidelines, publications, and instructions relating to safety and mission-specific NSW training
- Willing to work rotating shifts if needed - that may include nights and weekends.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- More than three years of experience providing explosives, ordnance handling support for NSW and TRADET.
- Minimum one year of experience in forward deployed locations supporting NSW as an Ordnance SME.
- Recent experience supporting TRADET and/or NSW providing direct support to NSW's Inter-deployment Training Cycle (IDTC).
- Experience with and understanding of the DPAS Data base.
- Familiarity with the Ordnance Information System and Reporting (OIS-R) and associated processes
- Familiarity with Ammunition Transaction Reports (ATR)
- Practical understanding of Navy and NSW policy and regulations related to AA&E Support
- Bachelor's degree and more than three years of experience, or an associate degree and five years of experience, or seven years of work experience. We will also consider candidates with four years of directly relevant experience.
