Job Description
Reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner requires a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Redlands Community Hospital. Through demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill, and competence the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care and support to the multidisciplinary health team working within the scope of practice of a Nurse Practitioner (NP). The Cardiovascular NP is a critical leadership role responsible for providing both direct patient care and program development. There will be an initial emphasis on program management and development with the objective of establishing a Comprehensive Cardiac Center and a Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence The NP practices in collaboration with the supervising physician. The NP will serve as a clinical area expert to include patient care, education, collaboration, and consultation activities. Assumes responsibility for professional development and program oversight for both Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Hypertension programs. He/She acts as an education advisor to the nursing staff and Managers to identify learning needs and designs, implements, and evaluates standards of practice. The Cardiovascular NP will work closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes for individuals with complex cardiovascular disease and pulmonary hypertension. This role is essential in driving evidence-based practice, improving patientcare quality, fostering the professional development of nursing staff, and being a clinical bridge between the physicians, interdisciplinary team, administrative/program management team, patients, and families.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduate of an accredited RN and NP program.
2. MSN degree required.
3. Possess the knowledge and skills required to meet Redlands Community Hospital medical staff criteria, and must be appointed to the medical staff.
4. Minimum two (2) years experience in area of specialty preferred.
5. 12 lead ECG and arrhythmia interpretation.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
1. Current California registered nurse and Nurse Practitioner license required.
2. Current DEA certificate required.
3. Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association required.
4. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support required (ACLS).
5. National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner required (AANP or ANCC).
