New York City based Kaiyo is an online marketplace for pre-owned furniture that’s made to last. Whether hunting for the perfect piece, or creating space for something new, Kaiyo makes it easy to make a better choice for you, for your home and for our home planet.

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Operations Manager to collaborate with existing management in overseeing the day-to-day operations at our Teterboro, NJ facility. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations. This role has a diverse set of responsibilities, and will be working alongside other operations managers to lead and manage our hourly workforce, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence.

Candidates should be highly motivated, professional and love working on a team. We are looking for a quick learner who is comfortable with change and the fast-paced nature of a start-up environment. Our ideal candidate has five years of logistics and process execution experience with a proven track record of leadership and management experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety and security protocols are effectively communicated and upheld
  • Ensuring that the overall day-to-day process and logistics operations run smoothly
  • Directing the work of operations associates and supervisors, demonstrating awareness and empathy of their strengths and weaknesses
  • Reviewing operational reports to identify trends and ensure that operations are running smoothly
  • Cultivating a culture of respect and professionalism by example, and by providing formal and informal feedback and re-training where necessary
  • Monitoring and improving team performance, correcting course or changing and executing plans if necessary to meet goals
  • Ensuring self and team's routine daily tasks and checklists are being completed and performing random quality checks
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), career development, and performance processes with specific emphasis on identifying, developing, and retaining talent
  • Training and mentoring team members
  • Develop, utilize and obtain expert level proficiency in daily operations reporting and interpret results into meaningful action
  • Lead on numerous improvement projects aimed at streamlining activities
  • Assisting with developing new processes and providing insight and feedback to help move the company forward

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations and warehouse management
  • Exceptional proven leadership ability, preferred history of managing teams of 30+ hourly employees with a constrained support system
  • Diverse approach to problems coming up with creative solutions as well as ability to create frameworks to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Comfortable with occasional long hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic and data-driven environment
  • Proficiency in software skills (Slack, Email, Excel, Word, Logistics platforms, etc.)
  • Ability to multitask with great time management, prioritization and organization skills

*Standard work schedule includes Saturday
