Ordnance Equipment Mechanic (Explosives Operator/ Forklift Operator)

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Ordnance Equipment Mechanic (Explosives Operator/ Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Performing standard repair and/or test of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic components and assemblies. Experience operating automatic machines performing explosives work involving demilitarization or renovation such as pull-apart machines, delinking machines, or other renovation machines. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• Physical effort: Work involves lifting and working on production including standing, reaching, bending, stooping and carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds. Manipulating parts and using machines and hand tools at rhythmic pace for extended periods . During fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms.
• Working Conditions: Work is performed on the demolition range and outside on ramps and storage areas when weather is often inclement. There are assignments where dirt, grease, noise, and odors are often disagreeable. Required to wear protective clothing which is specially made and treated for working on explosives; including safety shoes, glasses, gas masks, and coveralls. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea.
