Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the clinical director provides technical, administrative and educational support for home sleep studies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for diagnostic home study as prescribed, explains and answers questions regarding equipment function and procedures. Applies sensors to patients with home diagnostic sleep equipment. Prepares patients with auto cpap equipment and documents patients mask type and size. Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting using CPAP templates. Programs sleep equipment with patient information and documents in patients chart. Assists with directing patients for appropriate interventions. Downloads data into O drive for physicians review and interpretation. Prepares patient chart with appropriate forms and referral. Documents patient encounter. Sets up class room and maintains class room cart with appropriate supplies. Instruct patients in a group setting. Participates in equipment care, cleaning, and maintenance. Maintains appropriate supply inventory. Assists with data collection and data entry. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care. Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills when interacting with other members of the health team or patients. Displays tact and courteous behavior when working with staff and patients. Actively participates in education programs and staff meetings that are scheduled by the department. Maintains a clean work place. Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service. Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Upholds Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Complies with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT) Standards of Conduct.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Type 20 wpm.
- Six (6) months of direct patient care experience.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions.
- Computer skills and aptitude required.
- Ability to accomplish a multitude of tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all hospital staff, physicians, and the general public.
- Ability to instruct patients in a group setting.
