PA-C – Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology – Sarasota, Florida

First Physician’s Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant for the Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology department.  Sarasota is located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa.  The area is known for the arts, great restaurants, world-class beaches, excellent schools, and a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Responsibilities Include:

• Working with the GI Oncology team, which includes two surgeons and three Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) providing four 10-hour shifts a week at one hospital.
• First and second assisting in the operating room.
• Rounding on inpatients, seeing consults and coordinating care of patients in the outpatient clinic.
• Weekday/weekend call will be shared equally with other providers (1:4). 

Qualifications:

• General Surgery, or Surgical Oncology experience is preferred.  
• Florida licensure as a Physician Assistant & NCCPA certification
• APPs are required to maintain appropriate DEA prescription privileges/licensure.
• Clinical and Surgical experience in related field is preferred.
• BLS required. ACLS certification preferred.

Candidates must be able to work under minimal supervision in the assessment, planning and administration of patient care. Candidate will have responsibility for daytime and some after-hours on-call patient care.
