Patterns Regional Program Lead

Introduction
The Patterns educational programs encompass multiple award-winning learning programs for IBMers in Design and Product Management. Attendees of these programs join from across the business at various stages in their careers. Through a combination of co-learning and self-paced courses they come away with role-specific education designed to meet each learner where they are in their career plus a wealth of experience in the world of user-centered software and service design at an enterprise level. In addition to delivering solutions for real-world IBM product teams program participants have opportunities to learn from accomplished professionals on a variety of topics that range from discipline growth and collaboration to communication and other core skills crucial to IBM’s business and customers — designing for hybrid cloud based and AI-supported business goals at scale.
As a Patterns Regional Program Lead you will equip designers with the tools they need to practice their craft grow their skills and advance their careers here. We need a positive self-starter who isn’t swayed by the unexpected and is eager to help write the future of design education at IBM in your part of the world — maintaining local cultural sensitivity while infusing the larger IBM culture into local in-person and virtual Patterns programs.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Orchestrating design education initiatives: Craft expand and maintain the quality and value of the Patterns in-person and virtual programs for India-based studios and locations.
Providing a seamless experience for program participants: Work with fellow Patterns team members to ensure smooth program scheduling maintain documentation and button up other necessary logistics; navigate daily programmatic snags and roadblocks as they occur and mitigate them for future cohorts.
Coordinating and advocating for Incubator: Pitching and gathering creative problem prompts and supporting sponsor teams from across IBM business units in your region to serve as team projects for designers in some of the programs
Promoting designer growth in Enterprise Design Thinking: Co-facilitate formal and informal Design Thinking activities and work with coaches in their support of designers’ team project work.
Engaging with the broader design community: Make and maintain relationships with designers and leaders in other business units first and foremost in your geo as well as other geos.
Maturing Patterns program content: Continually evaluate and enhance program effectiveness and propose novel approaches to curriculum learning activities and overall program execution; identify informed areas of growth and opportunity specific to your region.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Fluent in spoken and written business English.
• Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to articulate and effectively present ideas; comfortable with speaking to a large audience or groups of stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Experience coaching and/or managing individuals and/or small teams; comfortable providing feedback on performance setting goals and growing skill-sets and careers.
• Initiative to take action on problems that need resolution even if not explicitly your responsibility; an appreciation for detail and its value in crafting a valuable learning experience.
• Confidence facilitating EDT exercises and workshops and a thorough understanding of the end-to-end design process.
• Solid understanding of UX principles design thinking and human-centered design processes.
• Passionate advocacy for the broader evolution of Design at IBM and for your role creating design education to support that growth.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Design capacity (any specific Design discipline).
• Experience in any sort of education training onboarding and/or program management is required.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Minimum of 5 years experience in service design and/or program management capacity.
• Proficiency in data collection and analysis and the ability to triangulate insights from a combination of data sources to derive meaningful insights.
• Experience as a project or program manager and with project planning best practices.
• Minimum of 1-2 years at IBM and in that time have earned IBM’s EDT Practitioner & Co-Creator badges or attended a prior Patterns program
• Bachelor’s and/or Master/PhD degrees in HCI UX Design Service Design Corporate Learning Design Learning Experience Design Business Administration and Innovation or a related field.
• Awareness of and desire to learn more about learning and psychology of learning frameworks including but not limited to: Bloom’s taxonomy ADDIE SAM LXD and integrated course design.
