About the Role:
Dr. Squatch is a hyper-growth, organic personal care brand. Our goal is to make people happier and healthier using our natural great-smelling products. Due to our growth, we are seeking a payroll professional with 3-5 years of experience to become a member of our Accounting team. The successful candidate will be a key contributor while administering payroll across all company locations and multiple payroll codes. Â
The Payroll Administrator will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager.
This is a full-time position with generous company benefits. The ideal candidate will be open to a hybrid work model between their remote location and the company corporate office in Marina Del Rey.
The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $90,000-$100,000. Compensation will commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Administer payroll for all employees across three payroll company codes
- Manage time with Sr. Accounting Manager to complete daily financial tasks
- Owning the payroll process completely from start to finish
- Keeping track of full-time employee compensation packages
- Process supplemental payrolls and any out of sequence payments such as terminations, corrections, bonuses, and off-cycle payrolls
- Review quarterly/annual payroll tax reports and W2s to be filed by our payroll provider—ADP
- Make sure government reporting requirements, regulations, and compliance for payroll taxes and withholdings are met
- Inform leadership on law updates to make well-informed decisions on HR and/or financial matters
- Work directly with Accounting team to ensure accurate general ledger reporting and reconciliations
- Identify areas of improvements to establish best practices for payroll, including improving the efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial close processes as it relates to payroll
- Provide helpful insight for employees regarding payroll
- Working with HR to understand the company organizational chart
- Coordinate with P&C, finance, and other cross-functional depts on managing the budget
- Issuing employees' wages
- Create ad hoc analysis and reporting when requests are made
- General understanding of balance sheet account reconciliations, AR and AP workflows
- Complete other duties as assigned
About You:
- 3-5 years of experience managing payroll processing
- Bachelor or higher degree in accounting or a related field
- Experience implementing or changing human capital providers (ADP preferred)
- Strong familiarity with exempt/non-exempt employee work model
- Ability to track reimbursements
- The ideal candidate will be extremely detail-oriented
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and share solutions with supporting staff
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries
- Experience working in the consumer products industry is highly preferred
- Someone who gets things done without perfect resources; is innovative, and works with a sense of urgency
- Someone who has high standards, takes ownership, and is invested in the outcome
- Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor
