Overview

 

BJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high–tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.


BJC Home Care provides care to thousands of patients in both Missouri and Illinois. Serving more than 25 counties, it has become the largest home care network in the region and one of the largest in the country.

 

 

The Home Infusion Therapy Department of BJC Home Care Services works closely with physicians, patients and caregivers to enable patients to remain or return home while receiving intravenous medications. Our services include 24 hour on–call pharmacy and nursing services, comprehensive patient education materials, patient assessment and drug administration monitoring, and coordination of professional services including home care nursing and laboratory services.


Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Under direct supervision of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility of preparing drugs in unit–dose for IV/OR, inpatient and ancillary area. According to standard procedures, Pharmacy Students assist the staff pharmacist in physician order processing, dispensing medications, transporting medication supplies and maintaining appropriate records.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides accurately prepared orders of pharmaceutical supplies by properly assembling orders and requisitions with the correct products.
  • Provides accurately prepared sterile preparations by properly following procedures.
  • Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation.
  • Delivers IV solutions and medications to nursing divisions and ancillary departments.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and sufficiently stocked work area.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • 2–5 years

Supervisor Experience

  • No Experience

Licenses & Certifications

  • Pharmacist Intern
