Physician – Urology
Charles George VA Medical Center - Asheville, North Carolina.
-Current staffing: 1 Medical Director, 4 Staff MD, 2 PA’s, 2 Residents
As a Staff Urologist, you will work directly with the Chief of Urology Service to provide the most effective delivery of urological care throughout the medical center. The staff urologist provides a variety of services including pre-operative patient exam and assessment and performs all aspects of Adult Urological Surgery in the clinic and the operating room. Provides urology-related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, ICU, ward, and clinic settings as needed, to include on-call coverage. Provides critical care related direct care as a part of a multidisciplinary critical care team. The staff Urologists may also be involved in program planning, resident teaching, policies, and standards essential to delivery of quality Urologic care.
Highlights of this position include:
  • Resident teaching, research opportunities, and DaVinci Robot
  • Potential starting base salary: $300,000 - $350,000
  • Daily schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30pm
  • Additional night and weekend calls are distributed on an equitable basis with the other staff.
  • One night per week, one weekend per month and some holidays
  • Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery from any U.S. State

Additional requirements:
  • Board certified and/or Board eligible and must be able to perform a variety of Robotic Urologic procedures.
  • Academic Affiliation: Duke.

Medical personnel have statutory immunity from "individual" malpractice liability while acting within the scope of employment; a VA physician cannot be sued in civil court for a malpractice (tort) claim.
