Job Description

Job Title

Platform Product Manager, API Management

Summary of the role

You will manage one of the Creation Platform capabilities meant to regroup multiple functionalities serving to the end-to-end life cycle of APIs exposed to consumers and systems.

The API itself - the technical details of interface and implementation - is one part of the story. The traditional elements of design-build-deploy are, of course, critical to the life of your APIs. But managing APIs also means testing them, documenting them, and publishing them to a catalog so that the right audience (internal developers, partners, and customers.) can find and learn how to use them properly.

Moreover, you must ensure that the platform follows security principles and mandates (Ex: PCI-DSS) and allow producers and consumers to check at run time how the system is performing.

(Ex: interaction with other platforms such as Argos, Splunk on the observability scope)

As a Platform Product Manager, you will be:

  • Conducting Requirement Analysis, Market analysis & IT /Technical watch

  • Conducting Platform Strategy & Positioning, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLC)

  • Supporting delivery teams for Technical and Functional Solution Analysis

  • Supporting Execution (Prioritization, resource availability, budget)

Your main responsibilities

As PPM owner you will oversee:

Positioning

  • Lead communications with Amadeus Business lines, Engineering, Creation Platform Architects, Epic Owners etc. to identify requirements, opportunities, addressable business, and governance / compliance challenges.

  • Contribute to the API Management strategy by aligning with other platform product managers /Epic Owners to maximize synergies.

  • Communicate capabilities evolution and collect feedback from users and from PM community, to adjust the roadmap and ensure adoption maximization.

  • Propose strategic directions to management to ensure one-voice communication (with investment / budget proposal, prioritization of features etc…)

Lifecycle

  • Run your platform capabilities at various stages of maturity.

  • Manage the capability through its lifecycle, from introducing new technologies (forecast adoption, define stage gates, be able to stop an ideation...) until the product end of life and decommissioning strategy (replacement, migration, communication, change management...)

  • Measure success using metrics and implement adoption strategies to maximize capability consumption.

  • Define the cost model and monitor the capability unit cost evolution.

Execution

  • Keep platform capability backlog groomed in close collaboration with relevant Epic Owners. Proactively communicate any significant changes to the backlog or roadmap to key stakeholder groups

  • Own the long-term vision and roadmap. Work with Epic Owners, Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering to refine the requirements, feed the execution backlog and roadmap. You are accountable for a balanced roadmap to ensure a scalable and optimized user experience, stable and performant technology product, that continually meets business needs and NFR's (Non-Functional Requirements).

  • Coordinate and prioritize feature delivery to match with go-to-market activities as needed for new features across the organization, demonstrating a deep understanding of the problems being solved and what the market (mainly internal) needs.

About Ideal candidate:

  • Be at ease with uncertainty, ability to adapt to a new and evolving context and strategy.

  • Collaborative mindset: we favour teamwork, sharing ideas, achievements and risks.

  • Driver – lead the way, pushes for the needed transformation, gather people, and communicate well on the purpose.

  • Platform mindset: ability to move from standard product management and apply the necessary abstraction to manage platform capabilities, which serve in turn, consumers to build or enrich products.

  • Communication: document and synthesize the needs (why & what) to help key stakeholders with translating into functional & technical requirements. Ability to express those in various forums.

Basic qualifications

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Results-oriented, energetic, and a strong initiative spirit

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.

  • Ability to quickly establish strong relationships and credibility.

  • Ability to demonstrate collaborative approach and to work in with distributed and cross-functional teams.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Business – or equivalent experience

  • Product management experience is mandatory, ideally in a B2B context.

  • Experience working in agile / SAFe experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge about PLC framework
