WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

  • Helping specify and set requirements for upcoming enterprise grade storage servers across multiple product lines.
  • Software development through architecture, development, test, release, and maintenance.
  • Developing primarily in C/C++ and Python.
  • Helping all of us get better through design and code reviews.
  • Helping us achieve world-class performance through experimentation, analysis, and tuning.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE…

  • An exceptional talent as an individual contributor, with 10+ years as a Linux kernel contributor
  • Experience in working with upstream Linux kernel communities, with notable contributions to one or more subsystems
  • 3+ years of scalable data path development experience in the networking or storage domains
  • 3+ years of experience leading product development teams
  • Strong communicator, with an ability to present to a diversity of audiences (from executives to developer conferences)
  • Track record of shipping products with high performance, high resiliency.
  • Natural curiosity and the ability to design, implement, and test your work.
  • General skills:
    • Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
    • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms, and data structures.
    • Experience in systems software: Linux kernel, embedded software, firmware, networking protocols, and/or device drivers.
    • Familiarity with server hardware: CPUs/BIOS, u-Controllers, busses (PCIe, USB, I2c,...), I/O adapters for networking and storage, storage devices, sensors.
    • Working knowledge of Linux virtualization tools
  • Valuable specialized skills:
    • x86 server platform bringup and management
    • Insights into x86 RAS capabilities to improve hardware resiliency
    • Deep expertise in I/O technologies and standards such as Fibre Channel, SCSI, RDMA, NVMe, Ethernet, or protocols (IP, NFS, SMB, …)
    • X86 performance and scalability (esp NUMA using lock free algorithms)
    • Virtualized data path implementation
    • Experience in modern user space architectures such as DPDK, SPDK
  • B.S. or higher degree in CS or equivalent experience

The salary range for this position is: $176,000-$264,000 per year. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
