Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D1334000 and is part of the AR ANG 188 CEG SQ, Air National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership in the military grade listed below. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Minimum Military Grade: NLT E-4/SrA
- Maximum Military Grade: NTE E-7/MSgt
Compatible Military Assignments: Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.
IMPORTANT NOTES (AS APPLICABLE): Upon selection for this position, individual must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation. A favorable determination based upon investigative results is mandatory for this position. Failure to meet these requirements will result in termination of employment. A pre-placement physical is required if not already current. Upon selection, must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment (if applicable, training will be coordinated by the supervisor). Individual must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion, as determined by the Human Resources Office (HRO). Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (Grade Inversion). Enlisted members currently at a higher grade than allowed by the position (see Military Grade Requirement above) may apply; however, they must administratively reduce prior to appointment and provide confirmation of the reduction to HRO.

Qualifications
Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Education
DUTIES CONTINUED:
(d) Advises on technical problems of installation and repair of electrical power production equipment. Solves complex maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of electrical generating plants and equipment. Devises and establishes maintenance and operating procedures to ensure maximum efficiency of operation and electrical power production plants. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends repair procedures necessary to correct defective equipment. Establishes maintenance and operating procedures.
(e) On weekend duty, supervises electrical power production personnel. Plans and schedules workassignments; establishes work methods, production controls, and performance standards; and assignsoperating and repair functions to subordinates and establishes priorities for work accomplished. Assures compliance with published directives, work standards and technical publications. Conducts on-the job training.
(f) Operates standby units during commercial power failures and performs operational checks, inspections, services, and makes emergency repairs of standby units in the field to ensure uninterrupted power services to facilities during power outages. Determines that generators selected to provide emergency power are compatible with facilities' power requirements in terms of size, voltage, phase, etc.
(g) Instructs other base activities in procedures for operating power generators during emergencies.
(h) Assists electrician and power line personnel in the various phases of installation, trouble shooting and repair. Subject to emergency calls as required during nonduty hours.
(3) Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
