Job Description

Florida Orthopedic Institute Surgery Center-Telecom is an Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tampa, Florida.

  • Ambulatory surgery centers (or outpatient surgery centers) are healthcare facilities where surgical procedures not requiring an overnight hospital stay are performed.
Preoperative PACU Nurse Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring pre and post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measuring and recording patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborating with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Providing comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educating patients and their families on pre and post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.

  • Adhere to and monitor all OSHA Safety Standards throughout the Facility and grounds.

Required Skills:

Qualifications

  • - Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
  • 2+years' previous experience in PreOP/PACU preferred
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • - Current state RN License
  • - BLS, ACLS and PALS required
  • - CNOR preferred
  • - Critical thinking skills.
  • - Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
  • Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
