Job Description

Amazing Primary Care Physician Opportunity Serving our Nations Hero's

The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, board certified/board eligible Primary Care Physician.  Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too. Candidates must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our Veterans.  The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is fully dedicated to providing top-quality medical care by serving and honoring America’s Veterans.

Highlights of this position include:

  • Competitive Starting Salary $215,000 - $230,000
  • Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm.  Occasional call on weekends
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention to scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting
  • Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems
  • Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral
  • Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
  • Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
  • Board Certified with Family Practice

 We offer:

  • Predictable work schedules and a focus on quality rather than volume
  • Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year
  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage provided
  • 26 days paid vacation; 13 days paid sick time per year w/unlimited carry over; 11 paid holidays
  • Federal Retirement Plan
  • Separate 401K with partial agency match
  • Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement for CME’s (must be full-time with board certification)
  • This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approved
