This role is open to both remote and local candidates.
As Principal Data Architect, you will provide technical vision and architectural leadership, focused on data strategy, to teams across the Calabrio organization as we accelerate our journey towards a unified cloud platform. You will be a key technical leader within the organization, leveraging your extensive industry experience, to help guide decisions with a pragmatic and forward-looking perspective, as we modernized our data architecture. As part of this approach, you will engage with teams and have the opportunity to "get your hands dirty" in the implementation phase.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- You will help to define and drive the data strategy for the Calabrio platform
- Ensuring proper data architectural engagement in initiatives that stretch beyond incremental development in our R&D teams to deliver solid outcomes and help advance the skillsets of our organization
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses
- Defining the data architecture framework, standards and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data, and master data
- Defining reference architecture that others can follow to create and improve data systems
- Defining data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple departments, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors
- Providing technical leadership to our R&D teams for key data architecture and AI/ML initiatives
- Developing architectural blueprints and strategies that address current-state data challenges, while providing a realistic roadmap to achieve a target future state that aligns with the business and product strategy
- Developing POC's to help support teams on key data architectural initiatives
- Evaluating the pros and cons of various architectural alternatives
- Advising management and other key stakeholders on matters of data architecture and strategy
- Partnering with Product to initiate and provide technology evaluations and recommendations from a data perspective
- Teaching and coaching others in the organization on architecture principles and standards
EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong people skills with proven experience leading teams, mediating technical disputes, influencing across organizational boundaries and mentoring colleagues
- You have considerable experience leading data architecture initiatives and are able to develop incremental plans to achieve success in these initiatives
- You have deep experience with multiple different data technologies including RDBMS, NoSQL, Big Data, AI/ML and Search Engines
- You are proficient at SQL and other data query technologies
- Experience in designing, implementing and evolving data models for multiple customer-facing enterprise systems
- You have held production responsibilities or have a thorough understanding of the operational factors involved in running cloud services
- You should be inquisitive and current on technology trends and solutions, including cloud data offerings, data security, and business intelligence
- Experience facilitating discussions and bringing consensus to cross-organizational teams with disparate interests
- You should have a demonstrated fit within a "team first" mindset and belief in a shared success model
- Ability to work in an environment of competing and alternating priorities with a constant focus on delivery and scale
- Proven ability to influence the architectural direction of business solutions
- Proven ability to present the data architecture to key internal stakeholders and external entities
- Exposure to Agile software development and DevOps/DevSecOps practices, such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration, automated deployment and configuration management and the evolution toward such disciplines
- A foundation in systems development. Data architects must understand the system development life cycle, project management approaches, and requirements, design, and test techniques.
- Communication and political savvy. Data architects need people skills. They must be articulate, persuasive, and good salespeople, and they must conceive and portray the big data picture to others.

- You have background in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning
- Experience in architecting complex distributed and cloud software systems
WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR YOU TO APPLY?
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
- 15+ years of software engineering and data architecture experience
- 5+ years in a complex SaaS/Cloud-based environment with a preference towards AWS
