The Aerospace Space Enterprise and Warfighting Division (SEWD) is seeking a Principal Director for the Space Enterprise Directorate (SED) with experience and expertise in Space Operations, Space Test, and other related skills. This position leads a robust and talented team supporting USSF/Space Operations Command (SpOC), USSF/Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), USSPACECOM/JTF-SD and USSPACECOM/CFSCC across all the capabilities, missions, functions, and responsibilities of those organizations. The role requires ability to influence and make impacts using limited resources, and involves significant coordination with other parts of the Division that provide support to the USSF/Space Warfighting and Analysis Center (SWAC), the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP), and HQ USSPACECOM, as well as all other parts of Aerospace. The role must work closely with Government and within Aerospace to ensure successful outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and execute strategy, excellent communication skills, strong technical expertise to directly contribute to tasks, and the ability to lead across the entire space enterprise. A key aspect of the role is to provide both leadership and technical contributions.
This role is based in Colorado Springs, CO and is not compatible with remote or hybrid work arrangements.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering leadership direction for effective, strategic, and tactical positioning of SED and its activities to ensure comprehensive, relevant, and timely support to the USG
  • Providing technical and strategic business guidance and direction to the overall portfolio of tasks assigned to the directorate
  • Ensuring the technical quality and rigor of analyses, products, counsel, and written products
  • Being a leader of, and an individual contributor to, directorate tasks
  • Managing the critical relationships with USSF/SpOC and USSF/STARCOM, USSPACECOM/JTF-SD, USSPACEACOM/CFSCC and developing new customer relationships as needed
  • Collaborating across the Division, and across other parts of Aerospace
  • Providing strategic leadership to, and managing, the business activities of the directorate (STE, tasks, personnel, etc.)
  • Ensuring the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse team that is consistent and appropriate to SEWD and SED mission and accountabilities
  • Inspire, guide and lead staff performance development in partnership with SEWD GM and People Operations
  • Collaborating within all of Aerospace to ensure comprehensive technical expertise is applied to all tasks

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, or engineering discipline or equivalent experience in leading technical organizations
  • Twelve or more years of progressively responsible professional experience applicable to the position
  • Value-added awareness/working knowledge of USSF/SpOC, USSF/STARCOM, USSPACECOM/JTF-SD, USSPACECOM/CFSCC missions, responsibilities, analyses approach and processes
  • Value-added awareness/working knowledge of USSF approaches to requirements, operational test, operations, warfighting, and related analysis
  • Proven ability to integrate diverse technical expertise (engineering specialties, threat intelligence, other customer facing organizations, etc.) into analytical tasks
  • Proven and strategic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to professionally engage with all levels of customers and U.S. Government personnel in time critical situations
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and evolve critical relationships with senior leaders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with and resolve conflict, to lead change, and to work well with others
  • Organizational leadership experience for a diverse team
  • This position requires a current SSBI and possess a Top-Secret/SCI clearance and access, and the ability to obtain and maintain SAP/SAR accesses, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work in the office, this position is not compatible with telecommuting
  • Ability to travel domestically

  • Graduate degree in science, mathematics, or engineering discipline or equivalent experience in leading technical organizations
  • Deep technical experience with one or more specific USSF capability area
  • Experience and understanding of the USSF approach to warfighting
  • Understanding of USSF (HQ and all subordinate organizations) roles, responsibilities, and functions
  • Proven experience with space operations and the USSF approach to test
  • Insight and experience with HQ USSF, SWAC, SSDP, and other relevant organizations
  • Experience in business leadership and management of a business unit or organization
  • Experience with creative technical and managerial problem solving under stressing conditions
  • Familiarity with the whole of The Aerospace Corporation in support of multiple simultaneous efforts
  • Current applicable SAP/SAR accesses

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
