As a Principal Software Engineer II for Alcon's Software Engineering team, you would be skilled and motivated embedded software engineer that will be able to define and develop features for current and next generation Alcon surgical instrumentation products. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge in embedded technologies and safety critical systems.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Make and articulate software architecture and high-level design choices, while navigating technical standards and selecting tools.
• Design control of safety critical applications.
• Contribute ideas and potential innovations, with a positive impact on the R&D pipeline. Manage hard real-time systems, ARM architectures, and microcontroller peripherals.
• Develop object-oriented, re-usable, and testable software components, based on requirements and specifications.
• Utilize coding skills in C/C++ in production environment and debugging skills all the way from PCBA to integrated product level.
• Handle full product and software development lifecycle, including defining goals and ensuring milestone delivery in a high cross-functional capacity.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
• 5 Years of Relevant Experience
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
