Job Summary:
This role is responsible for management of recall/withdrawal process flow to ensure proper steps are taken in a timely manner to comply with company policy and regulatory agencies mitigating potential risk to Walgreens Co. This position is responsible for leading the cross functional Recall team in the analysis and reporting on Walgreen and Supplier performance related to communication, disposition, compliance, returning to business and identifying areas for improvement. The position requires strong ability to manage risk, gain alignment and resolve product issues in a timely manner. #LI-NL1
Job Responsibilities:
- Functions as the Recall cross functional team lead and the primary point of contact internally and externally for recall/withdrawal matters, processing, resolution, status monitoring and communication. Plans, develops, sets up and maintains work site for collaboration records and retention. Leads recurring cross functional team meetings. Defines future set up, development, and maintains Workflow tool.
- Holds cross functional Recall Team accountable for gathering all information needed for record keeping during the recall process, including all recall notifications, inventory numbers, disposition plan, quarantined items, relevant date codes, lots, etc., and communications to the field and government agencies. Reviews, monitors, tracks and evaluates information and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Leads product disposition discussion with Merchandising and relevant functional experts. Authorizes the release of sales and distribution restrictions.
- Ensures all recall procedures are put in place and documented, sets timeline for all new recalls, and addresses any obstacles to process flow and drives efforts to identify solutions and continue improvement. Identifies trends, exceptions and other issues, and makes recommendations on problem resolutions and process improvements. Identifies and resolves gaps within the process or within the cross functional team activities.
- Sets the standards for conducting internal and external research to ensure the highest levels of insight is generated; maintains and reports comprehensive product integrity concerns and withdrawal activity information in regards to supplier performance to the Product Development, Sourcing and Merchant teams to enable these business owners to make informed decisions.
- Determines type and severity of product incident and collaborates with the appropriate area for investigation and resolution. Escalates issues to management as appropriate.
- Builds effective business relationships with functional stakeholders, solicits feedback on sourcing and vendor performance, shares and discusses supply base opportunities, and identifies new and changed needs.
- Provides day to day management/coordination of escalated product incidents and recall activities by building effective internal relationships and communication to global platform.
- Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identifying and evaluating gaps; choosing a course of action; which may include stepping into another team function so that the integrity of the process is not lost, defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
- Defines the expansion and growth of a global cross functional team to effectively execute potential global product withdrawals. Establishes framework and consistent content for global reports, executive summaries and ad hoc reports required by business stakeholders.
- Proactively works with Regulatory Law department on Adverse Event Incident Management activities to ensure regulatory compliance. Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information: recall/withdrawal documents and process.
- Implements best practices that enhance efficiencies, increase productivity, uphold company reputation, and protect stakeholder investments.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in retail chain or high school/GED equivalent with 4 years of experience in retail chain in order to identify issues or trends.
- Experience managing risk and dealing with sensitive, high priority situations; ability to report escalated product issues in an objective manner to business stakeholders and drive issue resolution in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of FDA, CPSC and USDA recall related regulations and processes as well as the criteria for each recall level under these governmental agencies.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree/MBA
- Experience within Product Integrity matters
- Experience using product data systems
- At Least 2 years' experience managing projects
- At least 1 year experience of cross functional team leadership
