About the role:
Dr. Squatch is a hypergrowth personal care brand making waves across the country and beyond! Our state-of-the-art GMP facility in Brea, CA, is looking to add a talented Production Supervisor - DEOÂ responsible for 3rd shift. If a different shift or schedule is necessary, it will be communicated in advance of the change. As a Production Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop your own team of Squatchers in a manufacturing warehouse environment. Your primary focus will be motivating, mentoring, and managing your team to meet targeted goals. As a people manager, you will ensure that the team of Squatchers has all the tools needed to succeed and maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, and attendance performance at work.
Please note this role is for our 3rd Shift deodorant line only.Â
- This role reports to the Production Manager - DEO
- This is a full-time (onsite) role with company benefits based out of Brea, CA.
- The anticipated base compensation for this role will be $67,000 to $90,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and local market rates.
What you'll do:
- Safety and Security: Partner with EHS to meet all risk and compliance obligations. Influence key safety priorities and establish a strong safety culture. Identify hazards and collaborate with relevant partners for resolution. Involved in improving standard work processes and evaluating ergonomic conditions. Ensure adherence to building security and product loss prevention procedures.
- Team Leadership: Coach, manage, and develop a diverse team of 50-100 hourly and exempt Squatchers. Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear operational and development goals for Production Supervisors I and Team Leads. Regularly measure performance, provide impactful feedback, and hold leaders accountable.
- Employee Recognition: Collaborate with People & Culture to create, manage, and support innovative recognition programs, reinforcing Dr. Squatch's unique and engaging workplace.
- Policy Communication and Compliance: Act as the primary information source for your team, effectively communicating policies and maintaining compliance and consistency. Address any issues proactively, taking corrective action when needed.
- Performance Management: Set clear, measurable performance goals aligned with customer demands and organizational objectives. Track team performance against these goals, providing regular feedback and adjustments as needed. Manage staffing levels and schedules effectively, ensuring optimal team composition for peak operational efficiency. Coordinate with HR for workforce planning, addressing skill gaps through hiring or training. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees to contribute ideas and solutions. Identify and recommend professional development opportunities, such as training, workshops, or mentoring, tailored to each employee's career aspirations and skill gaps.
- Timecard Management: Oversee the accurate recording and auditing of employee hours, ensuring compliance with labor laws and enhancing operational efficiency. Provide comprehensive training and support on timecard procedures, emphasizing their importance for payroll accuracy and operational effectiveness.
- Performance Reviews: Schedule and plan for both annual and periodic performance reviews, ensuring timely and consistent evaluations for all direct reports. Work with employees to set realistic and challenging performance goals for the upcoming review period. Foster an environment that encourages employees to express their thoughts and concerns during reviews, making it a two-way dialogue. Ensure that performance reviews are conducted fairly and consistently across the team, adhering to organizational guidelines and best practices.
- Talent Recruitment and Development: Actively recruit and identify potential candidates for promotion and hire. Collaborate with leaders across different shifts and factory areas to foster collective growth.
- Quality Control: Work closely with management and quality assurance teams to develop, standardize, and enforce quality control (QC) standards across all production lines. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations relevant to product quality, including industry-specific standards and legal requirements. Identify potential quality risks in the production process and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with leaders across shifts and departments to improve factory operations. Engage in joint problem-solving sessions to address operational challenges, leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise. Participate in decision-making processes that impact multiple departments, ensuring a balanced and holistic approach. Share best practices and insights across departments to foster a cohesive approach to factory improvements. Facilitate regular meetings and communication channels to ensure alignment of departmental objectives with overall factory operations. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and knowledge exchange among departments to enhance skills and operational capabilities.
- Staffing and Scheduling: Regularly assess current and future staffing needs based on operational requirements and projected business trends. Align team assignments with individual skills and experience to maximize operational efficiency and productivity. Rotate assignments periodically to ensure skill development and prevent monotony, enhancing employee engagement. Ensure clear communication of schedules to all team members, promptly addressing any conflicts or changes. Adhere to labor laws and company policies regarding working hours, overtime, and breaks.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and implement Continuous Improvement projects and Kaizens, adhering to Green Belt Lean manufacturing standards (minimum 3 Kaizens/year).
- Data Analysis and Decision Making: Conduct in-depth analysis of key operational metrics to assess plant performance and identify areas for improvement. Utilize data analytics tools to interpret complex data sets, turning insights into actionable strategies. Regularly report on plant efficiency, highlighting successes and areas for improvement. Work with management to develop strategies that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource use.
- System Improvement: Design and implement new systems to increase production efficiency and revise existing processes as needed.
- Logistics Management: Think tactically to structure teams effectively, ensuring operational efficiency and meeting SLAs. Develop comprehensive training plans that minimize disruption and maintain high-quality standards.

- Occasional exposure to external weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold (non-weather related).
- Consistent exposure to loud noise environments, such as metal can manufacturing or operation of large earth-moving equipment.
- Occasional exposure to skin irritants and flammable materials.
- Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used - PPE usage is required at all times while on duty.

- 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading/supervising a production team
- 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in Soap, Cosmetics, Personal Care, Food & Beverage or similar Consumer Packaged Goods industry required
- 2+ years of experience operating and handling equipment (manual and electric pallet jack, simultaneously and operating under significant time pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries
- Someone who gets things done without perfect resources is innovative and works with a sense of urgency
- Someone who has high standards takes ownership and is invested in the outcome
- Able to work in a team environment and take direction.
- Able to work weekends and off shifts (as needed)
