Job Description
We are seeking a Production Technology Support Specialist who will primarily concentrate on Live Graphics, Augmented Reality, LED Walls and Plant Wide Robotic Camera systems. This role is dedicated to delivering top-notch live television production support for NBCU, covering a wide range of live news, sports, and entertainment productions. In addition to providing essential support during live broadcasts, the specialist will also contribute to various projects, assisting in the implementation of changes, enhancements, and supporting technology refresh and expansion initiatives as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deep technical support for graphics systems (Vizrt, Chyron, Ross), Studio Set technology (LED walls, processors), and studio camera tracking systems (Stype, Mosys)
- Deep technical support for robotoic camera systems and database management for all studios.
- Resolve escalation support requests and conduct training for maintenance support teams
- Monitor JIRA for new issues and assigned tasks, performing preventative maintenance on supported systems
- Collaborate on projects, implementing changes, and deploying new systems as assigned
- Support virtualization and cloud initiatives, contributing to the deployment of virtual production systems both on-premises and in the cloud
- Lead the creation and updating of configuration documentation, technical SOPs, as-built drawings, etc.
- Take charge of planning and leading overnight maintenance activities for system improvements
- Act as support escalation contact for on air outages and general troubleshooting steps during a potential outage.
- Provide support to peers in other sites during outages, projects, or events as needed
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of recent experience supporting systems used in a live production environment.
- Experience supporting studio camera tracking solutions, such as Stype, Mosys, NCAM, or other camera tracking solutions used for augmented and virtual reality applications.
- Strong understanding of Evertz 2110 environments and workflows.
- Strong understanding of Cisco Networking systems.
- Ability and willingness to learn new production technologies.
- Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules.
- Must be available for travel as needed.
- Strong customer service skills and professionalism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback while being prepared to pivot or change course when appropriate.
Desired Characteristics:
- Showcase commitment to establishing and sustaining a stable, high-performance technical environment
- Expertise in camera robotics and live graphics, with specific proficiency in Vizrt and Ross systems
- Strong background in supporting and deploying equipment in a production environment, encompassing video router, production switchers, audio consoles, graphics and video playback systems, studio cameras, video & streaming encoders, and wireless audio systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in a diverse range of technologies, including television production, transmission, wireless audio, intercom, and related technologies, coupled with expertise in automation/development and monitoring tools
Additional Requirements:
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
