Job Description
Determined to transcend the status quo, ThinkWell was founded in 2011 to provide bold, creative, and practical solutions to helping low- and middle-income countries achieve universal health coverage. While our core area of work is health financing, we take a âwhole-of-systemsâ approach, specializing in five practice areas that intersect with health financing: governance, human resources for health, private sector, public financial management, and research and evaluation.
ThinkWell Kenya provides technical support to strengthen health financing, and improve how funds are allocated to achieve the goal of universal health coverage. ThinkWell Kenya is about to embark on a new project that aims to support Kenya in advancing its strategy towards cervical cancer elimination. We are seeking a Program Analyst or Senior Program Analyst to support the implementation of this new project, as well as other health financing work. This is a full-time position, initially for a year, and will be based at ThinkWellâs Nairobi office. The Program Analyst will report to a Senior Technical Advisor.
We are seeking a Program Analyst to provide support to ThinkWellâs immunization economics work initially, and other health economics and health financing work in the future. This role requires exceptional quantitative skills, strong research capacity, the ability to effectively synthesize and visualize findings, translate messages for various audiences, and provide management and coordination support.
What youâll do
Research, Analysis and Project Implementation
- With support from local and global colleagues, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, support the development of a plan to operationalize Kenyaâs cervical cancer elimination strategy, including an investment case, funding gap analysis, and advocacy strategy.
- Support the design and implementation of economic analyses and related assessments to inform the cervical cancer elimination plan, including the development of research protocols, data collection instruments for primary data collection, data review, cleaning and analysis;
- Support the development of high-quality research and advocacy materials to support policy change, resource mobilization, and efficient resource allocation to catalyze progress towards cervical cancer elimination in Kenya, including briefs, reports, presentations, blogs, and journal manuscripts.
- Conduct literature reviews, source data and information on relevant technical and policy issues, effectively summarize and synthesize research findings, develop targeted messages for various audiences, and present results to partners and clients;
- Create graphics and visualizations of quantitative and qualitative data.
Project Reporting, Communications, and Operations
- Support the planning and coordination of multi-stakeholder meetings and workshops in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya, including communication with participants, and collaborating with operations colleagues on organizing logistics, etc.
- Draft or revise sections of donor reports and coordinate team member input.
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders in the cervical cancer elimination field in Kenya, maintaining ThinkWellsâ reputation as a trusted partner of the government and its key partners and donors in this field.
- Represent ThinkWell with Kenyaâs Ministry of Health, external partners, donors or stakeholders at meetings and events.
- Develop and communicate compelling stories from compiled data and findings, and effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Contribute to business development, including desk research, technical input, and proposal and concept note writing.
- Assist with a range of project administrative and operational responsibilities, including staff recruitment and training, communications, coordinating travel, and drafting donor correspondence.
