We are seeking an innovative, bold, and visionary leader to strengthen and transform our Internal Medicine Residency Program at our community hospital. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking physician dedicated to building a dynamic, high-impact residency program driven by fresh ideas, enhanced educational experiences, and strong collaboration across hospital departments.

About the Role

As Program Director, you will lead the revitalization of our Internal Medicine Residency Program, focusing on curriculum development, increased educational opportunities, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Your leadership will shape an exceptional training environment, ensuring residents graduate as highly skilled, compassionate physicians. Additionally, you will serve as the primary liaison with accreditation agencies, ensuring compliance and exceeding educational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance and elevate the Internal Medicine Residency Program by redesigning rotations and enriching educational experiences
  • Foster stronger collaboration between departments to optimize training and patient care
  • Oversee admissions, onboarding, orientation, graduation events, teaching conferences, group interviews, internal reviews, Clinical Competency Committees, and Program Evaluation Committee meetings
  • Ensure program operations and teaching activities adhere to laws, collective bargaining agreements, and ACGME/RRC standards
  • Drive excellence in didactic and clinical education across all training sites
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care in both ambulatory and inpatient settings, modeling excellence in patient-centered care
  • Structure resident duty hours and on-call schedules to balance patient care continuity, education, and compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements
  • Coordinate and oversee all educational activities in alignment with hospital policies and ACGME standards

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution
  • Active New York State medical license
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Program Director (preferred)
  • Expertise in competency-based residency training curricula
  • Approved credentialing with Medicaid and managed care plans
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional excellence, serving as a role model for residents
  • Eligibility for Medical Staff Appointment and maintenance of staff privileges
