About You and this Role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Project Administration Technologist in Orange, TX. This role is part of the projects team at the SR-1 Ethylene facility, a strategic asset in Dow’s Hydrocarbons business.
The Project Admin Technologist role is ideal for an experienced technician that
Has a proven work history on collaborating with project teams and Maintenace to specify install and check instrument and electrical components of large, and medium and small projects.
Can clearly communicate verbally and in writing to internal and external partners.
Exhibits strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills with minimal supervision.
Can lead by influence and collaborate with people of various backgrounds and experiences to achieve common goals.
Is skilled at building and maintaining collaborative relationships with operations and maintenance personnel, including site and facility leadership.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the Front End Loading (FEL) process for large and small projects.
- Compiles documentation required for instrument and loop-check activities. Tracks loop-check progress and assures that all equipment is functional prior to Return To Operations (RTO).
- Provides project documents and expertise for the I&E and Process Automation project scope to operations and maintenance for the development of their training programs associated with the start-up/operations of the project.
- Works with Business Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Champions and/or Instrument and Process Automation SIS coaches to identify and address SIS requirements and ensure proper documentation is complete.
- Functions as Project Manager, Owner and Man Rep on small single discipline projects.
- Plans and ensures the proper execution of the I&E and Process Automation scope of projects including development, scope, implementation, commissioning, startup, and closure.
- Assists in the development of commissioning and start-up plans for I&E and Process Automation scope is consistent with the equipment and technology being installed.
- Electrical Services and Instrument Technical Service resources as needed to meet Project goals.
- Participates/leads in the start-up of the I&E and Process Automation project scope to help insure a safe start-up with no equipment failures due to improper commissioning.
- Works within the project development team to insure process specific MET is followed.
- Serves as a resource for Improvement and Tech Center involving I&E MET issues.
- Interfaces with area Maintenance I&E and Reliability Engineers to insure MET is followed for non-like for like upgrades and repairs.
- Active member of the Instrument Justification process.
- Works closely with the Process Automation group to develop process control strategies and define instrument/electrical limitations.
- Is a key interface with the construction organization in a partnering role to improve quality, cost, and schedule of construction activities related to I&E and Process Automation scope.
- Coordination of utilities and wiring to coincide with loop-check and commissioning activities. Leverage in Site
- Ensures that as-built documentation updated/archived and returned to operations and maintenance for future reference.
- Works with Maintenance contacts to ensure the transfer of information required for Global Mechanical Integrity Safety Standard (GMISS) registration for I&E scope.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years in Instrument & Electrical maintenance or projects.
- Must have valid US Driver’s License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Excel, with ability to learn new systems quickly.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Strong personal skills including time management and the ability to multitask.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of Infi90 and ABB 800xA is preferred.
- Knowledgeable of Global Methodologies and Work Processes (Global Project Methodology (GPM), Global Maintenance Work Process (GMWP), Acceptable Manufacturer / Supplier List (AM/SL), etc.) is also preferred.
- Knowledge of Instrument Engineering Tools and Dow LPP Compliance (Electronic Most Effective Technology Library (EMETL), SPI-IN tools, Instrument Process Data System (IPDS), Propix, Layers Of Protection Analysis-Safety Implemented Systems (LOPA-SIS). Micro-Station familiarization would be an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Wear required safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes, including respirators, in areas of intense or continuous noise.
- Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.Â
- Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
