ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Engineer will provide performance analysis and design expertise on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects during the development, design, construction, and asset management phases. Additionally, you will support due diligence independent engineering work like following up on IE requests, gathering data/info, and collaborating with internal and external engineers.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Evaluate equipment performance and specifications by working with our internal Procurement team and equipment suppliers to drive technology evolution.
- Create photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage production estimates using commercial software programs, like PVsyst, or in-house models.
- Coordinate Independent Engineer (IE) due diligence including contract management, reviewing IE reports, IE energy assessments, and providing feedback as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge on new technologies and energy assessment techniques for both PV and energy storage.
- Review and provide technical input for key contracts including interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, engineering procurement and construction (EPC) agreements.
- Create and build conceptual system design and site layouts for both PV and energy storage.
- Provide value engineering and analysis of design alternatives based on impact on financial returns for both PV and energy storage.
- Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
- Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) and/or utility-scale energy storage project engineering.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
- Skills/Attributes:
- Ability to effectively communicate with third-party independent engineering consultants.
- Ability to learn basic programming skills, especially Python, and basic SQL database queries and management.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
