Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Project Manager for Remediation Construction projects with a focus on US Federal firm-fixed-price contracting. The Project manager will lead remedial construction pursuits, cost proposals, and manage active construction projects across multiple AECOM subject matter experts and disciplines. This is a full-time position with a primary focus on California but can be based from a number of various southwest AECOM office locations, or based remotely within the United States, but must be able to travel up to 30% of the time to projects along the west coast.

The AECOM Project Manager is responsible for developing cost proposals and managing projects to achieve specified financial objectives. Involves the overall planning, cost estimating, scheduling, coordination, and control of a project from inception to completion to produce a functionally and financially viable project that will be completed on time within authorized cost and to the required quality. Manages scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management.

Responsibilities of this position, which may vary slightly, include the following:

  • Collaborates with project teams and management in the development of acquisition and execution strategies, and business plans for federal remedial construction projects.
  • Lead project identification, positioning, planning, staffing, cost estimating, scheduling, developing project technical approaches, preparing proposals through submittal, negotiations, and award.
  • Providing overall project management and administration of remedial construction projects and assisting in establishing project-specific objectives and policies
  • Manage construction/delivery for environmental remediation projects.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to subordinate managers, enforce company and project policies, maintain close client interface, and ensure all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.
  • This position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned construction projects.
  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
  • May supervise senior-level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as subcontractors, project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating, and procurement representatives.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS +8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in construction management, engineering, earth sciences, or related technical field.
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/clients are security sensitive.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of environmental project experience, including managing projects firm-fixed-price remedial construction projects from inception through implementation and closure.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing firm-fixed-priced remedial construction projects.
  • Professional credential, such as PE, PMP or PG, preferred
  • Experience in managing environmental remediation projects $10 million or greater - including excavation/removal, impoundment/landfill closure, large-scale groundwater treatment system installation, and D4.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to travel nationwide - up to approximately 30% of the time
Additional Information

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (CA, CO, WA and New York City, NY) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $155,000.
