Location: Highly prefer candidates local to our Chesapeake VA office. Will consider highly qualified candidates who can work out of our Arlington VA office.
Primary Responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Naval Architect or Marine Engineer with extensive design experience and in-depth knowledge of the design process, specifically related to high speed and small craft. The candidate will be able to provide technical knowledge to interdisciplinary teams supporting complex design projects from the concept design phase through to detailed design for production. With minimal supervision, develop technical specifications, analysis reports, calculations, and develop designs to meet Specifications and regulatory body requirements (ABS/RINA/LR/ISO/USCG). Will be responsible for coaching, reviewing and delegating work. Capable of developing status reports, technical reports, documentation, and high level briefings. Perform quality assurance reviews of products such as analyses, calculations and drawings. The candidate will be able to develop proposals, specifications, and cost estimates for G&G projects in response to requests received from clients. The candidate will be required to interface with the client and the design to control scope, budgets, and schedules.
Basic Qualifications.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years' experience as a Naval Architect or Marine Engineer, with a focus on high-speed and small craft design.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino).
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Currently practicing knowledge of engineering analyses and ability to mentor others in engineering calculations in elements of small craft design such as structural design calculations, propulsion driveline and auxiliary system calculations
- Working knowledge of developing vessel design project schedules and maintaining them for multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience managing project/program work scope and change order management
Preferred Qualifications.
- Professional Engineer's License.
- Project Management Professional certification.
- Active Secret security clearance.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $112,450.00 - $203,275.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
