Job Summary:
Benjamin Moore Co. is looking for a professional proofreader who will be responsible for proofreading printed, digital and web-based marketing collateral as well as myriad color tools and in-store assets. This valued team member will be responsible for quality control, consistency and accuracy of all materials produced by the Creative Services department.
This role will review and proofread a wide range of marketing materials for content accuracy, clarity, consistency, spelling, grammar, legal compliance, and formatting. In addition to a keen eye for detail, the proofreader will work side-by-side with copywriters and other stakeholders to address issues and work towards resolution quickly.
- Review, proofread and edit a wide range of marketing materials for content accuracy, clarity, consistency, spelling, grammar, legal compliance, and formatting.
- Work closely with Benjamin Moore legal team liaison to ensure trademarks, "offer"/promo language, and all fine print are legally compliant.
- Review all printer proofs for fatal flaws maintaining accuracy and avoiding unnecessary printer proof expenditures.
- Fact-check all copy for style consistency and appropriate content as defined by the writing team's style guide
- As needed, review Canadian English, Canadian French, and Spanish assets for accuracy, comparing them to professionally translated materials.
- Work closely with in-house creative team and multiple departments, project managers and stakeholders to guarantee uniformity and accuracy.
- Work with outside vendors when necessary to proof various color tools.
- Write SEO and ADA-friendly alt tags and file names
- Holistic review of website copy doc prior to translations to streamline efficiency ("Fresh Eye Review")
- Final review of website articles in staging environment and share final updates to CMS team prior to go-live.
- Must be self-motivated, have excellent organization and decision-making skills, and be a multi-tasking team player willing to work collaboratively.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- 3 years minimum proofreading/editing experience
- Experience with proofreading written communications, preferably in an advertising, marketing, print production and corporate settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), Adobe Acrobat
- Technically savvy with the ability to learn Workfront, our project management software, or any other software, if introduced.
